Post need some PC nerd help
Windows went belly up, but I managed to reinstall it without writing over my C drive.

Now, I have to reinstall my software. I have some CDs like the printer,
Microsoft Word, etc...But I have no sound.

How do I figure out what sound driver I need?

try belarc or siw to find out all the details of your machine's innards. if you have a dell, you can also enter the model/key into the site which will take you to its support page with specific device driver downloads. good luck!

If you right click on My Computer and hit properties. Then click on the device manager. You should be able to find what sound device you have.

If you manage to keep all you files form My documents just click on the Itunes icon and hold the Shift key and a window will pop up with 3 options: quit, choose library, Create library click on choose library, then a new window will show up, just go to my documents>My Music>Itunes, and choose the Library file and you will have everything restored as you left

this is useful if you wish to keep your music/library in a external drive or to have more libraries

hope this help
