Post Audio question for Mac users
First I consider myself pretty audio savvy. Having said that, apple and audio programs used on macs really infuriate me. Here's my issue: For xmas I got a audio technica usb turntable. I don't dj anymore and long ago sold my turntables, so having all these records I can't listen too is a bit painful. So I tried setting the turntable up to use with an older version of Peak Lite I have (Peak LE4). For some reason I can't get Peak to see the usb turntable as a source. So what I have been doing is using that really crappy Audacity program that came with the turntable. Program is pretty cut n dry BUT it won't let me tweek anything (no normalization), nor will it let me save to mp3. I've tried downloading LAME to enable this but even with using a supped up finder program allowing to see invisible libraries it won't do it. My only work around has been to save as a huge wav file then import as a mp3 in itunes. Too many steps and it's annoying. Can anyone help me?

Well there is no issue with using the turntable as a source with the Audacity program. Just it's not working when I use the audio program Peak. The reason I want to use Peak is it has more bells and whistles and I can save the file directly as a mp3. Audacity has no tweeking and can only export as a crappy huge wav file. Looks like the guy in that Apple discussion just could not get Audacity to work with the turntable (which isn't happening with me it works fine).

What I need is a to either get Peak to work with the turntable or enable LAME and actually be able to make Audacity recognize the directory so it will let me save as mp3. Sorry if I was beating around the bush with the direct problem...

I haven't used this myself yet, but maybe you can check out Reaper. It was recommended recently on another message board for recording LPs to your computer. I am not familiar with USB turntables and I have been using Audacity to record into my mac via analog input and cut it up into tracks... and then import into iTunes to make mp3s. Haven't tried downloading LAME yet.

Is the version of Audacity a "lite" version. If so, maybe download the full version and try again with the LAME.

Goto the sys pref, then select the sound, then select input. at this point do you see the turntable? Also check in the sys pref of peak LE, and see if there is a place to select your input?

Unfortunately I have Peak Lite 4.0 so I don't think I have any input preferences in it. I think I might just reinstall it on this computer since I just transferred it from my old iMac. Bias makes things really difficult though, often deauthorizing doesn't work and you're left with a program you can only use on the first computer you installed on.

Im not sure, but Im pretty sure LE has input settings. I think your right tho, I think your problem is because you transfered it. You should defiantly reinstall. If it still act's up, I know the light version of logic is only $100 and you should have no problem. OR you could try it in garage band. Im pretty sure it has input settings.
