Bo-Taoshi (Pole Pull-down) is played by cadets at Japan’s National Defense Academy.
The game itself, which consists of 150 people and a pole, is quite simple.
75 men have to defend the pole while the other 75 try to take it down by any means necessary.

The pole doesn’t have to hit the ground completely.
It only had to go down 45 degrees until 1973 when the rules were changed to force teams to drop it to a 30 degree angle.
There seems to be a time-limit too.

That has got to be the most ridiculous sport of all time...I wonder how many players get trampled to death every time. They are just so ruthless..shoving and ripping and climbing and kicking..

That is pretty cool, why can't that be an Olympic sport? At first I thought the guy that jumped to the top was stupid and had no purpose until I saw the kicks to the faces of the opponents. Pretty good strategy!
