Strange Food Creations
So I figured I'd make a thread after posting this picture in the "i shouldn't be eating this for dinner thread" Whatever strange recipe you have invented yourself that you love to have, post it. These pictures are going to be the stuff you normally don't see everyday. I'll start it off ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Peanut Butter Over Easy Egg Sandwhich

Re: Strange Food Creations
aw, man. I'm just getting into a big weight-loss kick (I'm still some number over 300 my bathroom scales can't tell me, but my clothes are getting looser!), and committing better than I have in a long time, so I don't think I'll be able to add pictures of most of my stuff. but I used to make some really fucking stupid edibles.
I had(/have) an oddly picky diet growing up and junk food has always been my main thing. in recent months, more likely to happen after I'd had some drinks, I'd slap together and microwave multiple-layer sandwiches just filled with slices of american cheese and various kinds of chips. I had different names for different variations like "Godawful" and "Unspeakable". a recent unique specimen that went unclassified, from the bottom up, went toast, 2 slices of cheese, saltine crackers, Pringles, a microwavable soft pretzel, bread, 2 slices of cheese, more saltines and Pringles, toast.
I don't know what the hell I was thinking, eating shit like that and then passing out, doing nothing all day the next day, repeating. gonna miss it though.
I also used to like putting roasted, salted in-shell peanuts inside of sandwiches or toasted bagels filled with crunchy peanut butter. messed around with various takes on this involving Cheez-It snack crackers. one of my biggest failures had to be sprinkling Captain Crunch w/ Crunchberries inside of a peanut butter-filled bagel...I could only taste the crunchberries, they were overpowering. total waste.
I also meant to throw in here somewhere I've always craved and been fascinated by foods generally considered very bland; I've been told my palate resembles that of what scientists call a "supertaster". no clue if that's true or not, I haven't even really read about it. but for one example, I could tell immediately, and found it quite noticeable a certain time my mother made Rice Krispies Treats using off-brand cereal. I find sour candies and gums fantastically exciting. I absolutely love the compare and contrast of things like white bread and saltines, shit like that. I dunno, just felt like sharing something weird
anyway. yeah I'm done for a while now with being a wasteful, gluttonous fuckoff when I could stand to drop a shitload of weight, but once I do exactly that and get into a more decent lifestyle I am SO PUMPED to mess around with more strange combos, expanding my palate as I go. definitely interested in seeing what more sane folks out there are putting together and eating. in the meantime, the strangest thing I've eaten recently is a handful of blackberries

Re: Strange Food Creations
great stuff dude, thanks for sharing. i'll have to try some of those combos. The roasted salted in-shell peanut sandwhich, do you eat the sandwhich with them still in the shell or did you take them out of the shell?

jcrazy wrote: The roasted salted in-shell peanut sandwhich, do you eat the sandwhich with them still in the shell or did you take them out of the shell? oh, I eat it with them still in the shell for that extra crunch. I don't know how many people prefer to eat peanuts like that, it has its risks. for one, if you try this, be sure to chew it QUITE well. not to be gross but if you overdo it eating them in the shells you will not enjoy it when they come out later. another thing, if you're popping peanuts shell-and-all on their own rather than inside of a sandwich, I discovered something I dub the "Deadly Peanut Cloud"; if you bite into a peanut like that just the right way, you risk being assaulted by a burst of salt and peanut dust infiltrating your throat and/or nostrils. make sure to wet them a bit with your tongue before biting down. lastly, I should mention about my previous post. that unique, unclassified sandwich with the pretzel in it. if I weren't intoxicated (and cheap) I might have almost considered stopping partway through. way too salty. the simple takes on multi-layered sandwich dumbassery worked best for me, like just using cheese and my favorite brand of tortilla chips.

Re: Strange Food Creations
Could not get the over-easy right. But I tried what jcrazy suggested yesterday, only mine turned out to just be fried eggs, and it was awesome! Before my goal to lose some weight I used to do crazy shit with food (I sometimes still do, just try to keep it healthy though ) Anyone heard of the McGangbang (Whole chicken sandwich in the middle of a double cheeseburger)? Well my friends and I were at Wendy's one day I decided to just create the WendyBang. I'd honestly like to try this again, except with a Double double from In-n-Out and an Original sandwich from Chick-fil-a. Whenever my friends and I have a bbq, there's one thing we always have to make... Jelly Burgers!! Its seriously good! When I was younger I used to make hot cheeto sandwiches. Simply line one side of the bread with hot cheetos till the surface area is covered, add a slice of cheese (I preferred swiss but american is good too), add another slice of bread, enjoy!

Re: Strange Food Creations
I have a bunch more silly sandwich ideas I forgot about, I'll edit them in later, but for now a different direction:
throw a bunch of little Snickers candy bars in the freezer for a while...later break them into many pieces with a hammer (more often I'd pound on them with a dumbbell...just realized the humor there), put on ice cream with plenty of chocolate syrup. I sometimes liked to include Twix bars in the mix as well.

Re: Strange Food Creations
The only thing like this I've ever created was a breakfast sandwich I invented while working at a Wawa-
Sausage, bacon, egg, cheese and hasbrown on a cinnamon raisin bagel with spicy mustard... mmm. It would probably come back to haunt me now, but back 10+ years ago I could eat it.

Re: Strange Food Creations
As a child, my Saturday morning snack (read: breakfast) routine for watching X-Men was sometimes: - 1 package of Saltines or Ritz crackers - 1 can of Kraft Easy Cheese - 1 jar of creamy peanut butter Layered sandwich, cracker + pb + cracker + Easy Cheese + cracker. Until the row/package of crackers ran out. Needless to say I eat healthier now except for the occasional Taco Bell: bean & cheese burrito w/no onions, add potatos, drowned in salsa (real salsa at home, I would never eat inside Taco Bell).

Re: Strange Food Creations
When I was in the Army doing field training, food was always scarce for us. The headquarters pukes always picked out all the good stuff before it got to us grunts.
A couple things we made from MRE's 1. a "Ranger Cookie" ...you took a foil packet of coffee creamer with a paper covering, added hot cocoa powder and sugar inside the pouch and then shake it all up. Burn the outside paper off. Peel away the foil and you had a gooey mess, sort of like toffee.
2. MRE pizza.. take the spaghetti package and crumble up the hard-as-nails crackers into it, heat it up on an engine and it tasted just like pizza!
That was about it, everything else tasted like cardboard ass.
We used to get served "T-rations" which were heated up in a single, big sheet cake sized pan. The breakfast stuff was disgusting, cut into cubes. My favorite was a cube of powdered eggs, snausages, cheese chunks and sickening maple syrup! And they always gave us milk that would not spoil, you could leave it out in the heat and it was still okay to drink...
Sorry I'm starting to ramble on. Back at post though breakfast was king, real eggs, grits, bacon, bananas, biscuits & gravy... the works.

Re: Strange Food Creations
friend of mine used to talk about dipping Sun Chips in mashed potatoes. I keep finding myself with only one or the other and eating it before I have both. but I have tried it with other kinds of chips, love it. I imagine Sun Chips are going to be the best combo though.

Whoa, that's definitely something I could get into. It's probably the "healthiest" thing on this page right now.

Here's pics of my try at the egg and peanut butter sandwich. As you can see, the "over-easy" part did not go well. Regardless it was very tasty!

I think a lot of us have heard about Epic Mealtime, and all I have to say is that they're fucking crazy (in a sort of good way). There are many things I would like to try from them, such as their giant eggroll or the Angry French-Canadian sandwich! The Meat Salad they made was horrendous though.

jcrazy wrote: didnt know about epicmealtime, thanks for the link. i've been watching wrecklesseating and wheresmychallenge I would suggest thisiswhyyourefat.com but it's no longer around. Yesterday I directed a broke & hungry coworker in making a sandwhich (that I've never made, or had before): mini bagel w/shredded cheese, fritos, and ketchup as filling. It was like a super bootleg of my lunch that I'm having today, and had a couple times last week - the frito pie sandwich: Kaiser roll w/veggie chili, grated cheddar, low-sodium fritos and a Morningstar Chick-patty. Needless to say, it's excellent & I'm having another one today. On Monday, my girlfriend brought me lunch from Your Mom's Burgers - 1/2 lb veggie patty stuffed with pepperjack cheese, topped with a fried egg + avocado + chipotle spread. Oh, and don't forget the cinnamon spiced sweet potato fries w/caramel dipping sauce.

Re: Strange Food Creations
When I was little, I was a big fan of Kraft cheese and onion sandwiches (on white bread, of course). That's all there was to them. Maybe two slices of cheese and some sliced onion. I don't know why I ate it, but I loved it. And yes, I was a big kid.
