Getting ready in NYC, been crazy, since yesterday every hard ware store and convenient store has been sold out of flashlights, batteries, duct tape, stuff like that. There was a two hour line yesterday. And the grocery store lines have been crazy too.

My girl was due to fly home from Scotland into JFK on Monday... looking more and more like delays into the start of the week will be inevitable... I just want her to make it home safe!

When I lived in Florida, I was hit by 4 hurricanes in 2 months, it's not fun, but it was thrilling... Stay safe everybody, your all in my thoughts...

I think the media is blowing this way out of proportion. It's gone from 3 to category 1 and has already made landfall. By the time it hits NYC is might be barely a tropical storm. I lived in NJ when Gloria hit in 1985, that was worse and not much happened. I also lived in Brooklyn and basements flood everytime it rains. Media thinks every hurricane is a Katrina. It's so ridiculous!

Pretty much...Its more like hurri-rain here. Lots of movies & Snacks. Treating it more like a snow day than a disaster.

By midday yesterday, though it was raining really hard and we had strong winds, I had dismissed most of the worry as hype… but at about 9 last night, our downstairs neighbor asked me if I had seen the local news lately. I checked in on a few sites- our state got hit hard by this storm… lots of major flooding, damage, and dangerous situations…

Yeah it looks like VT got slammed.
I have some friends that live in the Albany area and they got evacuated due to flooding.
It wasn't too bad up here. I could look out my living room window and see 4 downed trees, and the house across the street lost some shingles. That being said, we didn't lose power at all. I enjoyed having a reason to stay at home and not do a damn thing.

They're reporting now that this is shaping up to be VT's worst natural disaster since the massive flooding of 1927...

Those pics are from Sunday right after the first half of the storm stopped. The water is much, much higher today as the river begins to crest. It's at least 10-12 feet higher today.

I had this tree removed 2 days before the storm hit. Turns out it was dead inside and would have most likely come down in the wind with the water logged soil. It could have hit four houses including mine.

My sis sent a video of downtown Denville, Morris County, where much of our Jersey fam still lives- the whole of Main St was underwater, every shop flooded.

Alex is that you in the hardhat?

I'm in Bergen County. Most of those pics are the Passaic River. It crested yesterday. I walked down there again and the water was past where I stood to take those pictures on Sunday.

The really crazy pic is of Main Street in Lodi. I used to but my cofee at that Dunkin Dinuts every morning when my office was in that area.
