Speaking of fantasy hockey. We need at least 3 more people for a yahoo league I've been running for 3-4 years now. Lalo is in it. Come on guys the draft is Thursday night, here is the link:

http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/boobs

or just pm me your email and I'll send you a invite, lots of scoring catergories. BTW Lalo has won 2 years running so someone need so beat em!

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
All right, while this rant may be more applicable to the locals in Montreal, I am sure it can apply equally across other arenas. F@#K the NHL and especially the Bell Centre. For years now I have been unbelievably frustrated by the way they have handled ticket sales, and it has gotten worse every year. I once stood in line for a day in the rain, just to get a ticket that allowed me to enter a lottery just to buy a ticket, and then it all just ended up be a giant clusterf@$k and they shifted it online anyways!!

But now they have gone too far. I just checked the Habs website, and the ticket prices have been increased by 50%!!! :x Maybe this has been common knowledge for a while, but I have isolated from the horrors in Japan. over 100$ for shitty-ass whites??!! Come on, are you serious? Moslon Ex zones are now 60$, and the prestige are over 300$; and all this is even assuming you could get them. Obviously we and they all know what's going on, sales are 78% to scalpers and ticket reselling agencies, which is just complete BS. As an example of how corrupted the system has become (in Canada at least) Ticketmaster, the well known 'exclusive' retailer for many events, was 'selling' its tickets to its subsidiary company, to be resold online at marked up prices. The public literally has no chance in getting anything at face value.

I am so tired of this gouging, left and right, from the NHL and the like. Whatever happened to just being able to be a fan, follow your team and games, maybe even get a jersey, and attend a game? You have to be a bloody millionaire or at least upper middleclass these days. Don't they remember that the entire reason for their existence is as a medium to provide entertainment for the public? That's what this is. It is not about competition or sport, let's be real. Those athletes are classified as amateurs.

Looks like I'll be watching the Canadiens (provided I can) from my shitty futon with some cheap beer, that is at least cold, but I will still be paying one monopoly for the privilege, since now I can't even get analog signal on antennae any more. And for all this my cheering and enthusiasm will probably be a little less pronounced :(

weird. I can get good 20 dollar tickets at the rock in Newark for the devils any game.... keep it quite G_money.
Granted probably a terrible Idea to build the devils arena in Newark, but still doesnt break the bank + im always getting deals emailed to me.

So is everyone ready for Hockey 2011-2012? Still haven't found a viable option to watch streaming games for free online. That PS3 will only work if you buy the NHL Game Center package for the year for $170. Then you have spend the 9.99 through playstation. I'll keep looking, but surely something will turn up, there is always away around it. I swear NHL is the worst about letting anyone see their product without spend huge sums of money. I'm glad people pirate games. Fuck Bettman!

i think they banked on the idea most people would take the train and walk from penn station. Very short walk of shame to the "rock" and back. Parking is generally ok for devils games, its much much worse when a concert is there. Parking and traffic is a lot worse for red bulls games across the bridge. I like when the devils are home though cause my favorite bar is a few blocks away and without the people going before and after games it would probably be rough for them to stay open.

The only thing I've found online where you can watch games for free is vodka sports. Just google it. Not the best, but I have toys to buy, I'm not giving Bettman $170 clams.

I watched the Montreal game this morning on Oleotv. It usually has about 4-5 links per game, so one of them is usually okay quality. Hard to navigate sometimes with the excessive ads, but once you get to the game, you are golden. For the SC finals, I was able to actually get very decent streams even on full screen.

So who's watching last year's Stanley Cup rematch this afternoon? I missed most of the first period like an idiot, but saw the highlights. Total fight central apparently as Lucic already got a game misconduct! Go B's! Don't want to jinx them but I've been watching their games all year and they look like a beast of a team that might just win the cup again. I mean 9-0 the other night against Calgary? Prediction for East Conference final: Bruins vs Rangers with the B's going for the East.

I missed most of it, but heard that the B's were playing well. As soon as I checked in on the game, Sedin scored. Now Hodgson scored. I'm out!

Damn the streak is over. Stupid Vancouver! I bet it will be a long time before someone breaks 23 straight home wins though.

Why does Kris Letang make me want to hunt him down and smash his face in? I loathe the Penguins but I especially hate him and Kunitz the most. Best part of today for me was watching his little b*tch ass head back to the locker room in a tantrum- because he lost to the Flyers with 1 second left in OT by Scott Hartnell (who I like).

Oh and the B's and the Wings really really need to get it together!

That Flyers v Pens game was something else. I think Letang is one of those players you'd like if he was on your team. I'm more of a Letang fan than Malkin...which isn't saying much because I don't really care for Malkin.
Sharks need to get their act together...but then again, it gets rid of all the wagon jumpers :D

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
I watched the game too. Nice that at least NBC shows them for free at least once a weekend this time a year. Good game, I can't stand Pierre Mcquire though. He rides the Pens/Crosby nutsack 24-7. I love how in the intro he said Pens have Crosby, Malkin, and Jagr it's pretty lethal. Doh? Sorry Pierre the Flyers have Jagr.

I actually did not mind Crosby so much (as he didn't do much) and he even showed humility when Read ran over Fluery. Looked like he almost helped him up instead of pretending he was tough. I guess having a year off due to injury makes not want to tempt fate. Letang is definitely a fast skater and a good defenseman but he just tries to hard to be "the man". Seriously? Going after Hartnell? That guy would make light work of Letang. Kunitz is just a punk, and a dirty cheap shot bastard. Sticking your shin pad into Hartnell's head and trying to drill it into the ice? It's like Matt Cooke is trying to be an angel this year but the rest of the team is just as dirty as ever. Malkin is the ugliest man in hockey, just like Hartnell says in 24-7. LOL.

Hey the Flyers/Pens meet two more times in the last week! Will be watching both games.

We just won 10 games straight, give us some credit. Dominating NJ, NY , boston etc...

All of our lines can score. We are coming on strong at the end of the season..

Chill.

Lurker, never said the Pens weren't a good team, I just don't like the personalities on the team.

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
I can't contribute too much here at all, as this has been one of those Habs seasons where you really find out if you are a fan or not. Sure, there are always losing seasons, and terrible trades (c'mon, who worse than Montreal for this), but watching your team basically self-implode and not really caring about it while it happens makes it pretty hard to stay excited. I confess that this isn't all their fault, and there is certainly a significant contribution from the way the league, and pro sports in general, are being managed these days. I'll be happy to see Winnipeg in the playoffs though.

To weigh on on this particular discussion, Letang is not someone I would choose on my team, but really, Hartnell, who likes that guy?

So...who were some of your favorite players...aside from all-stars/superstars like Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, and the like. Those are obvious choices. Let's say your starting 5. Players cannot be all stars/superstars like the few mentioned.

Current and retired:
Saku Koivu
Vinnie Damphousse/Jere Lehtinen
Mark Recchi
Teppo Numminen
Matt Carle
Jarmo Myllys

Current:
Saku Koivi
Joe Pavelski
Zach Parise
Matt Carle
Dan Boyle
Pekka Rinne

Love your signature Bert.

My top 5 would either be stars from the Nordiques (the Statsnys, Dale Hunter, Goulet, Foote...) and useless but fun players from the Habs (Lapierre, Laracque, Gill, Subban, even Gomez...).

Aaaah, hockey. I really considered getting cable just to watch the Habs' games this year. Sort of glad I didn't. At least they were consistant, unlike the Leafs who gave their fans some hope (boom).

35 goals and 130 PIM. Too bad there aren't more players like him in today's NHL.

I LOVE SCOTTIE HARTNELL! The hand to ear he gave the Hulk Hogan wannabe fan taunting the Flyers bench says it all. Pens chumped hard today! How do have the supposedly best team in the league with Malkin & Crosby and give up a 2-0 lead to lose 6-4! LMFAO! Flyers have owned the Pens all year and will again one more time before the end of the season. Here's the clip:

I'm not from Buffalo so I'm not a Sabres fan :) I'm neutral with them. It's nice when the town gets all hyped up but I'm not crying into a pillow if they lose.
