Oilers? Again? Really? They should be banned from getting 1 picks.

^^ I have to agree. How any team could have squandered all they have had, put up the past seasons that they have done, and STILL not made any changes up high - really boggles the mind. I have deep sympathies for Oilers fans; they are subjected to the mismanagement of the Leafs, but without any of the big gun financial support.

Watching the draft lottery was a total waste of time.

Any predictions for the Cup winners? I have to say, the Ducks are looking really good.

Surprised Montreal is up 3-0 on the series already. I thought we might take the Sens, but not necessarily in few games. It has been two OTs though to be fair. That was an odd finish to the last one. Of course I want Montreal to win, but seems like even the refs knew there was some question there, but basically gave in to the end of the game and people (including the Habs) leaving. Although, as a hand pass, and in the defending zone, there is no infraction, I think they should have at least made the ruling clear, as the deflection was obvious. Ah well, the next game is either going to have Ottawa coming back strong and physical or not at all.

...and I'm sort of glad they lost one. Will remind them this is serious, plus a long break could have killed momentum.

Actuall, I agree Oli. A sweep never seems to do teams much good. I would rather have them face it more seriously, as well as not have as much time off. Plus that was a pretty unexciting game, compared against the previous two. Neither teams seemed like they were fighting for it all that much. Montreal I could see, but Ottawa facing elimination? Anyways, always nice to see them bring it back home.

Is it wrong I want to fight club Dale Weise so bad? No really I want to pound the shit out of him in a street fight.

I don't think it is so wrong. I also find it odd though they managed to find another Moen lookalike. At least he has the skill to back it up though.

So why is this thread so dead these days? I mean, sure no Sharks or Bs in the playoffs, but still.

Anyways, rough game to watch last night for Montreal. I could have seen it coming, but still stayed up until 5am to watch it. I sure hope they can scrape some kind of a semblance of a PP together, because goaltending alone - no matter how good - does not a Cup win by itself.

I've not been watching a lot lately. Just too busy. I don't think the Habs will take out Tampa. I still think the Ducks are going to come out on top in the West. From what little I've seen of the Habs, they don't look too good. Some of those penalties are just stupid penalties (as in undisciplined). I'm still hoping the Habs pull it off but when you're not scoring on even strength, you're not going to advance.

Well in short, the Canadiens are not getting away with stuff they got away with in the past. They ain't diving this year, but are doing too much after whistle shoving/cross-checking stuff. Dare I say it, they are doing EXACTLY what the Bruins do when they play the Habs and get frustrated. So as the Habs are kryptonite to the B's so are the Lightning to the Habs.

Caps- Lightning/ Blackhawks- Ducks in both conference series.

Re: The good ol' hockey game

Mon May 04, 2015 6:27 am

yes, you guys are both right. I am not expecting any miracles from Montreal, but as a fan, that doesn't mean I can't still hope. They haven't deserved to win the way they were playing, and they actually seems to be getting worse the further into the playoffs it gets. It still possible they can turn it around, but they need to stop looking at excuses and start dealing with their scoring and play. The team has need a major shakeup in coaching and management for some time though, and unfortunately, qualifying for the playoffs - even if just barely - seems to equate to job secirity and going with the staus quo for how the team is built.

Re: The good ol' hockey game

Mon May 04, 2015 6:39 am

I hate the Canadiens, so seeing them struggle gives me great pleasure BUT having said that I can admit they are a good team with one of the best goaltenders in the league. Thing is the Canadiens have a good coach, and when they play their speed game with stretch passes, coupled with how well they clog any passing lane in their own end, clearing players away from Price so he sees everything they are damn near unbeatable. When they are on they remind me of the B's (albeit a different style altogether) from a few years ago where you knew no matter what they would find a way to win. I know because until recently all my hoping to see them fail would end up with a late period goal sending them to a win. For example I'd never bet against Max on the ice with a scoring chance late. He needs to step up though.

Only way the Habs win is they play their game and stay disciplined. Take it from a Bruins fan who knows all too well you can have an unstoppable team but then lose everything because you let emotions unhinge your game.

And when they are off, they look like the Oilers - ouch! Hahaha. I actually really dislike Therrien, and would welcome a change there. I was happy when his first tenure with the Habs was over.

Lightning were restricting playoff ticket sales to Florida residents only and now they're banning Habs jerseys inside the arena. Turnoffs

Well I was 3 for 4.... I'm picking the Lightning to upset the Rangers, they beat them 3 times in the regular season and the Rangers got lucky with the Caps IMO. Blackhawks will beat the Ducks.

Looks like the Russians could have used Putin and his '8' goals in the finals.

Ah well, even if Montreal is out, nice to see Hockey Canada pick up the trifecta of championships this year.

Tyler Johnson for TB. What a story this kid is! Undrafted, scoring in bunches. Already has a natural hat trick tonight. 11 goals halfway through the playoffs and if Tampa Bay goes deep into it, this kid could easily score 20. I'm rooting for him and TB.

Hahahahahaha! Well first off Sabres fans thinking Babcock was actually coming here, knew that wasn't happening. But Toronto? LMFAO. There goes Babcock's legacy. All about the money. Toronto is the biggest dumpster fire in the NHL. I actually think Babcock is a little over rated to be honest. Bruins hired from within with Sweeney. Hmmmmm. Well he better make some moves off season or the B's are in for more pain. (And those moves should not include trading Lucic btw)
