Seriously half the battle with going to Japan is the airfare is so outrageous. Take that out and Japan looks a whole lot better (minus the exchange rate).

How much does it cost from the US? I once went with 450 euros from Europe (but I did pick up a last minute offer).

About $1300-1400 I'd say. I'm sure you can find cheaper flights, it also depends on which coast you're leaving from. West Coast is cheaper.

Whoa, too bad it's not 100% set and if it does get passed not until next April (all according to that link.) I might plan a second trip for next year then too, this is cool.

I've gone twice for less than $1k + hotel. The month you go also plays a big part in your airfare as well as where you stay. The thing that amazes me, a lot of people spend a whole lot of money going to SDCC. If you can save up for SDCC, take a year off and use that money for a trip to Japan.

I always spent about $700 from the midwest. Haven't been in a few years though.
The exchange was much better the first time.
