does anyone on here have problems with the person they are dating/married to/partners with, not understanding why you spend so much on toys????


i'm having to hide toys for a few weeks at a time and slowly bring them out....do i have a problem??

I'm really lucky with my gf. I don't know that she fully understands it but she's cool with it. I'm not sure I could be happy in a relationship which I couldn't be myself. We don't share an income though so maybe that's where the problem could stem from I suppose? Best of luck working it out.

is it worse getting approached by your wife/gf with a stack of printouts from all the crazy porn sites you left in your history or with a tiny piece of jp vinyl in the shape of a monster...please discuss.

thankfully my wife is ok with both. but there are stipulations.

i guess problems was too strong of a word, getting made fun of or"oh my god you paid 125 dollars for that thing" or getting compaired to a TV show where a guy blows the rent on a toy.........kinda of things. She is cool, but just kinda looks at me like i've lost my mind at times.......

I feel for you guys. I'm actually really lucky enough to have a girlfriend who collects really expensive stuff as well, so she can't really make fun of me or give me a hard time about it.

I mean, she waited in line to get a pushead skullpirate right next to me.

i get packages almost every day. my wife is not happy about it, but she is not totally against it....yet.

I explain to her that everyone has their vices. I don't gamble, sit for hours watching football, I don't spend money on my cars, do drugs (anymore), drink excessively (not that often), go on lavish vacations, spend tons on electronics, etc, etc. my obsession is toys. is that so bad in the big scheme of things? there are worse things...

she rolls her eyes, walks away and says "whatever. If you did any of those things (above), I wouldn't have married you anyways, so that's a lame justification."

the real test will be next month when she sees how much I spent on SDCC!!!!

Just tell her that it could be worse - you could be out in strip clubs sticking those hard earned dollars into a strippers G-string! That normally shuts them up. No worries here - my lady loves it and collects stuff herself. Very Skylar and Missy-ish relationship!

I tried the hiding toys method once, early on in my collecting days. Imagine my surprise when I come home and have my wife ask me what the deal is with this Damage Brain that my one year old found and proudly took out to show mommy. Lots of drama after that, so no more hiding toys.

Unless you live with your wife/gf and have a shared income, I honestly don't think it's any of her business how you spend YOUR money.

When your in a serious relationship ALL your business is their business and vise versa.

But I learned long ago honesty is the best policy.

My husband is an enabler. That's almost worse. I was much more level-headed and always thought twice about spending money on toys when he didn't like them. Now that he does, I buy a lot more shit than I really should.

I use to be gay in my collecting and had a lot of KR and [expletive deleted] crap. My wife thought they were so cute (that's when I knew I had to change my ways)
Now she keeps saying these are so fucking gross and what happened to you
Oh and if she saw all the boxes that came throught the door I wouldn't be writing this..........................................
