Jesus this is a bummer, I remember dancing around to MC5's Kick out the Jams when I was 6 or 7 thinking they were the greatest thing ever (My brother had a decent vinyl collection, and up until that point the only secular music I heard was my sisters Genesis cd). Without Davis playing Bass MC5's punk/garage sound might have stayed just that, but he sparked a fire of heavy Jazz and Soul into the mix, and made them shine. All the greats seem to be laying down their instruments, maybe I'm just getting old.
