I got the Pyramidus in this shitty photo complete with his rubber front parts for $30 and he has a complete 5-piece ZeoZord shoved inside him the owner didn't know about. I also got a Jumbo Shogun fist thrown in, that strangely, on it's own on a shelf, looks like a 60s BLACK POWER symbol.

i hit an amazing garage sale a couple weeks back.
here was the loot from that single garage, with prices spent:

all 3 for $1:
Image
grimlock was the only one in really good shape.

this amazing cha cha llama for $0.25!
Image

$2 on this, and i almost passed it up. it was SUPER dirty, and a couple of the stickers weren't only peeling (which i can troubleshoot), but were torn and/or completely crumpled. does have the sword/tail and all the orbs, plus the electronics work too. besides, i cleaned up pretty nice.
Image

and this was a first for me in garage sale finds, but this place actually had a $0.01 box! whats the point? so, i spent roughly $1.12 on this lot, which included these fantastic clear green pencil boxes that the figs are currently housed in.
Image

its been a pretty good summer. i've also found more 80s toys at g-sales this year than any year in the past 5 or so: remco awa figs, a few motu, ljn raiders of the lost ark mola ram complete(!!!), matchbox crash dummies, ljn thundercats....to name a few, all averaging about $0.25 each.

@MattyBoomBatty - :!: Pyramidus is an AMAZING find! and though $30 is steep (imo) for a garage sale toy price, you basically stole that fucker, especially with those internal finds! congrats!

That's a great one. My 4 year old has been asking me for a Grimlock for the last year. Wish I could have come across one.

He wasn't sold in Australia so he's pretty good and he's so monstrous (and stupid)....I think the previous owner was a collector because he's undamaged in any way. Finding big, stupid, old robots is almost impossible here in OZ at flea markets and garage sales these days. I haven't seen a G1-to-Energon TF or older toy for years. Not even shitty Power Rangers robots except the actual power rangers figures themselves (which are prolific if you want 27 different red rangers).
Lots of turtles though.....usually banged up like you wouldn't believe.

Kinda' surprised Kevlo and the gang haven't chimed in about this, but...

Never heard of it, sounds interesting.

I did pick this up from a garage sale about a year ago...very cool :)

I love garage sales and fleas, but try not to have anything particular in mind for myself when I go. Recent scores are a Hundertwasser print ($10) and a Huffy Space Invader ($15)I just passed up a Six Million Dollar Man doll! ($30 /arm didn't work)

G1 Megatron for three bucks still blows my mind.

This has been a big year for scrounging. Anyone else ever notice how people always dump the best stuff just before the economy picks up? Like, if they just could have held out a little longer it wouldn't have been necessary...

not having much luck this summer but I just found this. Looks brand new and came with leather case, instructions, and flashbars. Now I just need some film to see if it works, otherwise it's still a pretty cool paperweight for $5.oo

I get the peel apart film on amazon I think it's $10 for 10 or 12 exposures, I have a different land camera but it is a lot of fun.

wow slack, did you find that at a garage sale?

that is a vintage yamaha sy-2 analog synth. super cool!!

Re: garage sales

Wed Aug 29, 2012 11:53 am

I did, I got it and a slew of other really cool things from one guy a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I had the synth looked at and they told me it had some keys with contact issues so it's not 100% functioning. I'm looking for some help getting it fixed. The thing must have been used only once or twice as it looks new. I guess it's not good for them to sit around for 25 years in a closet...

Re: garage sales

Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:30 pm

luckily for you, dead keys are a rather easy fix. cleaning the contacts is not too complicated

that is a great find for sure! you can get some awesome analog tones out of those synths

Mainly look for LPs and old video games (mainly lcd handhelds). Sometimes glassware or kitchy nic nacs. Had some luck over the years. Becoming harder though these days.

I happened upon a Antique /Flea Market set up way out in Clarence Center over the weekend while going pumpkin hunting with my g/f. I got all excited thinking I might find some hidden vintage japanese toy treasures when I went into one building and saw a sign saying toys/godzilla in back. Nada though, and I do mean nada- maybe one modern bandai godzilla. I so wanted to tell some great tale like I found a bunch of vintage Bandai Kamen Rider standards for 5 bucks a piece or something! I really don't think there are many japanese toys collectors in this neck of the woods.

What a score man, love those little guys. I have a few Doraemon minis too, but not nearly as cool characters as those ones. The really lvoe the caveman and wizard, but they are all great. And 50p? damn, what a find. Great hunting once again Moog!
