Re: garage sales
I am guessing from the look of it and the style of BA, that it is of the modern era. Nice find, I wish that soakies were still something you could find regularly. I know I would be buying 'em up in the shops for sudsy joy.

The sharpness of the sculpt and the type of vinyl used looks too modern for the 80's. Here's one that is quite old from a different boot-sale. 'Alien Callisto' from the 'Major Matt Mason' toy line. Any use of translucent green vinyl is always a good move in my book . . . . . made by Mattel in 1968. One of the wires has gone below the knee, but for £1.50 i'm not too bothered. He's in pretty good condition for his age apart from that.

Re: garage sales
From the same seller as Alien Callisto above. £1 for the lot. I have no idea when these were made but they look like they are 80's or maybe even late 70's. Does anyone know? (close-ups on my flickr stream).

Re: garage sales
^^ Yep, i have been reliably informed they are from the late 60's early 70's and quite rare nowadays . . . This set is by 'Matchbox' 2006 and are containers for toy cars. They came with completely non-Halloween style cars. 50p each at a boot-sale. I found a blog featuring them and the blogger made a good point . . . . "A Beach Patrol boat? What the heck? Well it seems in the end that these cleverly designed seasonal Matchbox goodies are less about the season and more about unloading product that probably hasn’t moved from their warehouse in the last six years."

Re: garage sales
Weird matching that is for sure, and futhermore, those 'packages' seem pretty kid-unfriendly by today's standards. Weird find.
The Matt Mason alien is a stunner Moog!! What a fantastic treasure to resurrect from a garage sale. A perfect vintage find, and really nice condition, even if one of the bendy limbs (these always go in these rubber toys) has been rendered useless. As you pointed out, the green translucent head makes so much of the toy. Classic pulp sci-fi monster appeal, I love it.

Yep, i was glad to find the 'alien' figure from the line, rather than one of the humans . . . much more cool and interesting. Here's two recent buys from a charity shop. The 'Mac Tonight' is from 1998. I love this type of figure. The TMNT keyring is a converted pin-badge from 1990. 10p 20p

Re: garage sales
Another Blaster for my collection. 50p at a boot-sale. I think there is a loose connection because all it does is say 'Drop your Weapon' really loud in English but with a slight Chinese accent . . . . no laser gun sounds or anything. Still, it looks cool and thats the main thing.

Re: garage sales
^^ Yeah, its way more colourful than the average! More boot-sale badges. 10p each from 1990. These are from the UK 'Hero' version of the Turtles animated show. They changed the name, because at the time there was a long-running controversy over kids playing with real Nunchucks and Throwing-stars etc . . . a lot of dodgy market stalls were selling all sorts of 'Ninja' weapons to under-18's.

Gloomy Bear. £2 at a boot-sale. The seller said its was her sisters who bought it in Tokyo and she would be angry if she knew it was being sold . . . mwah-ha-ha (evil laugh) its mine now.

Re: garage sales
Yet more boot-sale bargains . . . . Bendy Skeleton, could be old or could be new . . . very hard to tell. 10p 'Floaty Bear Thing' by Roman Dirge. Pull his tail out and he 'pointlessly' vibrates, as the seller commented. He only vibrates for about 5 seconds, so no dirty jokes about 'adult' toys please! 50p.

Yes. It's by the A. J. Renzi Corp of Leominster, MA. Here is a great post on collectionDX that talks about it and a lot of variations: http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/blow_molded/king_kong

Re: garage sales
Great article, thanks for sharing Mark. These are great, I am an absolute sucker for anything ape-related. I think I have seen a couple Renzi banks before, particularly the Spiderman, which is also a great one, but never the Kong.
