a friend of mine just posted on my facebook that someone on tumblr is using my pictures and posting them as his own.

i've never had this problem before, and all my pictures can't be downloaded by anyone else except for me. so i'm guessing he probably screenshot all the pictures.

if anyone can give suggestions on what to do to resolve this, please share.

Man, that really sucks. I hope you can get this resolved quickly. That guy using your photos is such a prick.

File a complaint with Tumlbr and next time watermark your pics, you can also get a lawyer and submit a cease and desist letter or whatever they call them. sorry to hear your work is being taken without recognition. Such is the internets these days.

Unfortunately sites like Tumblr are set up entirely for linking to other peoples images. I don't really know what action you can take except contacting the guy and asking him to stop stealing your shit.

He has definitely took screen shots because normally on Tumblr you click on the linked image and it takes you to the original source. I have loads of people using my photos on Tumblr but at least users click on them and they get taken to my Flickr stream. I think this is the same for Pinterest too.

Its really cheeky because he has put : "Please DON'T, steal any of my edits or work, if you are give me credit at least. But don't."
. . . . all the while blatantly stealing your photos !!

Wow, what a total dick thing to do. I don't understand the motivation in it either, especially when it is so blatant and then he has the nerve to have a disclaimer about it. Hope it works out for you man.

And just a heads up, you can download flickr pictures even if the owner has it set to no downloads.. You just have to find the image in the page source which is as easy as hitting ALT+F..

Did you email him/her yet and let them know?

his tumblr account doesnt have any option of contacting him.

i've had a few friends reblog him and call him out on it. i also filed a DMCA claim with tumblr, so hopefully that resolves everything.

it just irks me when i see someone reblog it and write "this is such a great picture" and such. not to mention that each picture has at least 15 to 50 reposts...ugh

I hate to say it, but that's why I don't share anything online I'm not fully prepared to have become public. It's why I don't update my facebook, it's why I had to tell my mother not to go nuts posting my wedding pictures on FB, same with pictures from when I was a child. I hate it because once its out there, anyone can get it and your control over it is so very limited.
