Post Farwell to Neil Armstrong, his footprints will live on
Just heard of his passing. Say what you will about the motivations behind the space race, as long as mankind's history continues, his legacy will always hold an important place. It says a high amount of what was accomplished in 1969, when you consider the handful of people who have repeated this feat, and where we have come in manned space exploration since then. I wasn't born then to witness it firsthand, but that doesn't mean the significance of it is lessened any. May he rest among the stars.

Sorry to hear that he passed on. On a score of 1-10 for life achievements, being one of the few to walk on the moon is definitely an 12. Some complain about how much all of this cost, but remember that the space race was a race in technology. The high tech world we live in would not exist today if the government had not poured all that money into r&d.

This is sad news, I've always been a space race nerd. I was reading a few weeks back how sick he was and has been. I guess him and Buzz Aldrin promised each other they had to live until the 50th anniversary of the moon walk, it's even more sad now that that can't happen.
