Post The weirdest/craziest thing you've done for a toy.
Trade? favor? sell a car? your first born?

I'll start. As part of a three way trade for 1 toy, I once moved about 5000 LPs from someones house to a storage unit. They were all in milk crates and boxes already. I had to move them down a spiral staircase, then down a flight of stairs on to a truck and then into a storage unit. I moved double time and got it down in about 4 hours. The problem is the next 3 days I was so sore that I could hardly walk down stairs or even hills.

it was a 1/1 Bemon! ok here's another in 2006 with another skulbrainer:

Dec(?) 2006 in an attempt to get a blood skullpirate. I traded an American overseas a new PS3 at the time and couple of games for a pushead bloodpirate and the zombie obake dog heads. Does any remember the craziness of getting a PS3 at the time? like anything hype item. People were being held up at gunpoint outside of Best Buys and robbed for them. Seems like it was a lopsided deal? May seem that way now and maybe it was then but I NEEDED that bloodpirate. I also had a promise to be hooked up on any overseas releases for the trade as well. At a time when S7 was the only US retailer who could get you something, if you missed out on getting an item, there weren't many other options. Ebay(maybe!) and masato or maybe celga.

This wasnt so crazy, more like I had to do extra for it.

On a trip to japan, I spotted a Bop dragon that I had been looking for for a while. I was out of cash, so the Mrs. spotted me the money, with the condition that I would have to take her chores around the Apt. for the week. It was worth it, and I didnt have to pay her back. :D

I once smacked a guy in the throat with a jumbo Grandizer...didn't get anything out of it, he was just trying to kill me.

Post Re: The weirdest/craziest thing you've done for a toy.
I remember when the GID Maza was set to be released (Jan 2009?). I think was the first Maza open to overseas customers. Me & Tim (plover) had been pm'ing back an forth all week wondering what our chances were. I woke up extra early on the day of and was still a bit hazy as to what exactly I had to do to enter. So I got my forms all ready to email and opened a clock from the system preferences on my iMac counting down to the exact time when the lottery began. It was some ungodly hour like 4-5am. I remember checking that clock over and over and over, just watching it tick off to the exact time. I actually got nervous thinking my computer would crash. Then I wondered just how accurate my fingers were and if I could send it off at the exact second the lottery began. So I tested sending emails to myself.

All this for a ridiculous toy?! When the moment came it was so anti-climatic. Hit send at the exact moment and wait. I guess it paid off I won and so did Tim.

I guess its not crazy but to normal people definitely weird.

Really? Haha, stranger than fiction! Someone should make a movie about this!

I think doing something and getting a figure usually justifies the means. I haven't done anything too crazy in my opinion. I have slept out on the streets of Tokyo prior to several releases (old rxh releases, WF, OF, SB anniversary's, Hot Fudge Damnedron, etc...) The crazy story I will share is what I did for a figure that I didn't get.....that day or time.

When I first got to Japan, Secret Base used to post pictures of their new releases on their web-site on Thursday or Friday evenings at times. I was so new to the game that I ran out my house and jumped on a train. About an hour and a half later I run into Secret Base all out of breath and say: "I'd like the so and so" and the employee looks at me and says: "tomorrow" What? You have got to be kidding me!

When Secret Base released the Rainy Day pirate I went over on a day when it was going to rain for sure. The sky was so dark and just waiting for the right moment. I asked for the figure and the employee looked outside and said it wasn't raining. I hung around for about an hour then headed home. When I got home it was raining and I went all the way back that same day to get the Pirate :)

Traveled to Slovenia, about 10 years ago - looking for a new Star Wars 4" figure with bonus pit droid. Went to a few cities, tramped around, pounded the pavement, made inquiries. Managed to find one. Had a good trip in the process. Nice place. I was in Germany at the time, so it wasn't too far out of the way.

Yeah at the time it was crazy rare, and the only ones that were popping up were in Slovenia. Not so rare anymore, but eh, to paraphrase Abbott "It's the experience that counts!"
