Post Simon Lee does Garamon, Twintail & Masked Rider
CRAZY concept pieces from Simon Lee/Spiderzero... I didn't know this, but apparently he worked on creature design for Pacific Rim, and these were some quick conceptual pieces done as practice. I don't think there are any plans to license and release these, but they're damn cool eye candy.

Here's the Garamon:

(Noobs: Garamon is from Ultra Q, not Ultraman. He never actually took a silver fist in the face.)

More here... I think I actually dig the Twintail a bit more than the Garamon:

Whoa, the blood drinking vampire was awesome, then this....

I love your posts!!!!

These sculpts have a ton of action. I love it.

Yeah, Twintail Stomp is out of control, as well

How ever the garamon is my favorite individual sculpt of the lot

garamon is a bit too simian for my taste, but i love the fact that they took the time to study their history before diving in willy-nilly.

Special thanks to Guillermo del Toro for suggesting this one!
i wonder if either of them realize that garamon isn't from ultraman?

I think Simon must have had more than passing familiarity with classic Tsuburaya creations, as he's been working in the garage kit scene for some time now. I agree, Bill: very simian x reptile, here. Beyond that, though, if I didn't know it was a practice sculpt with up-front time restrictions, the element I would especially nit-pick is the spikes. It's a big pet peeve of mine whenever someone doing a "realistic" take on Gary renders the spikes as cone or triangle forms. To not put in the time to capture their complex, leaf- and coral-like forms is to miss out on THE sculptural richness of Garamon.

Ha- I didn't catch that! Cool, at least, to know GDT is a Garamon enthusiast!
Yeah, ya gotta wonder....
