I saw Anthrax supporting Metallica back in the day. It was just before Cliff Burton died.
Wow. That's quite a show to have witnessed. I saw Metallica with the mighty Cliff Burton when they were supporting Ozzy. My friend bootlegged the show on a micro cassette recorder, then we worked feverishly to transfer it to regular cassette....sounded so horrible, but we must have listened to it hundreds of times.
It appears The Moog, Bitterpill, and Nefasth all grew up during the same era....good times, wouldn't trade our heyday for any other in history

OK, I'll chip in
First time I heard Metallica in a live context, it was not from Metallica !
Then I catched them in 89, on their second time in town (first couple shows were in 85'). I have'nt bothered since.

Re: Metal.
^^ Speaking of cover versions and Metallica, i always really enjoyed their 'Garage Days Re-Revisited' 12" . . . . with obscure tracks by Diamond Head and Budgie etc.

Watched this classic the other day
Indeed classic, i've lost count how many times i've recommended this to people over the years. Bad News Tour & More Bad News. So many funny moments:
Like when Vim is being interviewed on a weird angle and he keeps craning his neck round to face the camera.
. . . .and when he's in the kitchen with music blasting and he's shouting . . THE LYRICS, LISTEN TO THE LYRICS!!! Just when the song goes into an instrumental break

I got my copy of the book on Quebec's metal history earlier this week (got the numbered edition and I'm -84'- ), I'm learning tons of stuff about the scene, particularly about the proto metal period, it's fascinating.

I am jealous. I would buy one if you can score another copy...even if I don't know French. I did a bit of searching, and it looks like they were only available at the shows ?
Nice tune from Sex. The sampler/sequencer in me hears samples in that tune

Grim Reaper is such a great band. I remember a girl in junior high school told me I was going to hell because I was wearing a Grim Reaper shirt Pretty much had all three of their albums in rotation since they dropped. Another favorite...

Just got this digest sized comic in the mail. Contains tributes from metal luminaries and comic book artists. Makes a nice compendium to the same sized/themed Mercyful Fate tribute from the same dudes. Only Tom G. Warrior is real.
^ I wanted to order one but it was 14$ just for shipping, here on Morgoth I sent a mail asking if there was a way around Storenvy, I still have to hear from them.

I ordered mine from Hell's Headbangers....shipping was $3 and change. Let me know if you need help acquiring one.
Decibel released their top 40 albums from 2014. As usual, agree with some, not with others. A few of my favorites from the past year (in no particular order)
Hirax - Immortal Legacy Godflesh - World Lit Only By Fire Triptykon - Melana Chasmata Myrkur - Myrkur (ep) Exodus - Blood in Blood Out Bolzer - Soma (ep) Morbus Chron - Sweven Overkill - White Devil Armory Panopticon - Roads To The North Agalloch - The Serpent & The Sphere Primordial - Where Greater Men Have Fallen

Re: Metal.
Picked this up recently thanks to Skinner's IG. A double lp comp. of bands who weren't really feeling the whole hippy thing, and were influenced by Black Sabbath. Really cool stuff from mostly garage type bands of the 70's who were maybe a bit sloppy and recorded a 7 inch in mom's basement...which makes it fuckin rad. Some of the bands were clearly deserving of more attention....

^ This made my day. I require more information though....who's playing bass ? When is it being released? Love the reference to the first words spoken on Killing Technology in the song title. Really cool slow breakdown at the 3:00 mark....Voivod rules. I think Piggy would be proud of the job Daniel Mongrain is doing....dude is a beast on the six string.

The new bassist is Dominique Laroche. Unknown in metal circles as far as I know but known for playing bass with a buch of famous mainstream local acts. Meanwhile, I think Blacky completely lost it http://nukronic.com
My favorite speed metal band of recent years left Quebec for the States recently, never had the chance to catch them (her...) live

Re: Metal.
Why the hell can't Blacky be an environmentalist and the bassist in Voivod ?
I like Demona's Banzai tattoo
Checked these guys out due to the vocalist of Bolzer being on it......not disappointed.
