"The Elephant Man" is the greatest David Lean movie that David Lean didn't make. 8)

Sounds like I need to just finish up and see the rest of his movies. I've always planned on watching them, just hadn't gotten around to it. I'm actually kind of happy I still have a few that I haven't seen yet. Lets me savor those moments more now.

Extremely fond memories of Twin Peaks. Everyone, and I mean everyone, watched it when it ran here in Sweden. It was a really big deal. Regarding this new endeavour I'd say I pretty much have no expectations whatsoever. Which leaves me open to be pleasantly surprised... Seriously, if it turns out to actually be good I'm gonna be ecstatic. That last episode almost drove me mad back in the day. I just couldn't believe there wasn't gonna be a third season, talk about being left hanging! Cruel and unusual punishment.

Right? I have friends who love both sci-fi AND lynch, but they still hate on Dune. It's plain weird, is what it is. It's a great movie, one I always return to when I'm in the need of some quality sci-fi.

Could still be alright.. He only directed about 6 of the episodes from the original series. Apparently they are going to use his scripts anyway so if they get somebody else to direct it should work out fine.. I nominate Tim & Eric to direct the series!

I'm beginning to think Lynch is kind of a putz. The first two seasons didn't have a lot of flashy special effects, that's not Lynch's style anyway..couldn't he find a way to make the budget work to satisfy his legion fans? Instead of bowing out every time there are bumps in the road? We don't know what went on behind closed doors, but I can't imagine he was denied a working budget for a project with so much interest from the public. There's a difference between artistic integrity and just being a weenie.

Buck up Lynch and direct the fucking show!

Knowing zero facts, I'm still inclined to go with Lynch's judgement - it's not difficult for me to imagine that a network that brought us such shining gems as Dexter, Polyamory: Married & Dating and that Matt Leblanc vehicle being shortsighted. 'Praps his French frequent financiers at Studio Canal will step in with a stack of scratch? Pudgy fingers crossed.

I guess you are right again D. The only one from that list I am familiar with is Dexter, which blows ass. A cursory inspection of the other names alone reveals total garbage.
And just the phrase "Matt Leblanc vehicle" makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.

Although Inland Empire was self-financed and was one of his poorer showings IMHO. Still worth a watch or two by all means.

"Episodes" (/w Matt Leblanc) is funny as hell and I would recommend it to anyone, much more of a BBC production than a scripted show on Showtime (and shot over there, despite being set in LA). Anyway I am dying from anticipation over the new season of Twin Peaks and the canon book from Mark Frost this year which is poised to explain what happened after the season 2 cliffhanger until now. I honestly can't remember the last time I was so excited about new media.

I'm really hoping that all this is just for publicity, hearkening back to the letter writing campaign from the first go 'round. I could see Lynch just having some fun because he knows he can get away with it. Maybe I am just in denial.
