Anybody watching the new season of Daredevil? I'm still in the middle of it but I kinda like what they're doing with The Punisher. It's almost as "real" as most of the Garth Ennis stuff...pretty cool.

The Punisher was never a character I was all that interested in but I think they've done a good job of integrating him into this sort of "second string" Marvel universe. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage...these characters aren't going toe to toe with the Avengers or the X-men and they know it. Their self-awareness is what makes them interesting.

Really made me take a step back and realize how fleshed out this universe is...from characters changing things on a cosmic scale down to regular people with guns...I'm into it.

Thought that DD season 2 was super boring. After the first one I had high hopes for this but it´s just so boring... No comparable villain to Kingpin (great acting by d'onofrio!), nothing really happens, beating ninjas for several episodes back to back, very zzzz. The plot just wasn´t interesting to me. Read that this was written/made by different people than the 1.

The punisher was portrayed alright and the actor did an ok job. For that I´ll give it 2/5.

i freakin' loved season 2 of daredevil!!!
storytelling in this season was completely different than the first, but in a great way! kept the series fresh.
i felt bernthal did an amazing job portraying punisher/frank castle.
episode 4 was a masterpiece. some of the best tv i've seen.
the "staircase fight" was superior in my opinion than the hallway fight in season 1.
bringing back characters from the first season were done tastefully and with meaning.
i could keep going, but don't wanna spoil anything or drone on.

I enjoyed it as well. I felt like The Punisher overshadowed DD pretty much all the way through. Much more interesting character and his acting is pretty far above everyone else on the show besides Kingpin. The martial arts in general are really good but that prison hallway fight scene was epic. So brutal and it just felt more realistic. Overall it was much improved over season 1 which just seemed to build the universe for the most part.

Seriously, though, this season, while still imperfect, got a lot of things right.

Daredevil season 2 was pretty good. I loved the punisher/kingpin episode. So great.

For a straight to netflix series...it's been pretty impressive.

been trying my best not to watch everything all at once- so far loving it.

Anyone see that batman/superman film yet? I considered it but the 3 people I know who saw it so far all hated it so I am thinking maybe I'll wait a couple weeks and catch it in an empty theatre instead.

Zack Snyder could make homemade ice cream taste like paper.. He is the enemy and must be stopped.

I did today. I had zero expectations and actually didn't mind of Man of Steel.
That being said...this movie is pretty bad. Ben Affleck is good but the first 1 hour nothing happens. The last half is super rushed and just a cgi crapfest. It feels like two separate movies. It felt like I had been in the theater for hours and all I wanted to do was have a drink afterwards.

That is so funny because 2 of my friends said the same thing. They acted as though it was something they were proud of getting all the way through like a long boring text book or a documentary about tax laws.

Batman v Superman was pretty cringe worthy. Snyder crammed sooooooo much into this movie, and all in every wrong fashion he could. I was immensely surprised by Affleck's performance(I was a very open naysayer amidst his announcement to the role), but just about everything else was just bad. Two years in the making, and this is the result.

The only silver lining I have in my head is the extra 30 minutes of fight scenes on the BluRay that would've dubbed the movie Rated R for excessive violence.

I've never been a DC fan. And with all the crap being talked about BvS it's just kinda reconfirmed my opinion of DC as the Go-Bots to Marvel's Transformers.

Batman VS superman comparatively was not that bad. Allot of the people that comment negatively about the film have little invested in the comics and are use to the rainbow high five happy squad that Marvel has become. Id say it's better than Age of Ultron and both of the Ironman sequels. If you read the books it plays out pretty well.

It probably would have been quite a bit better if Goyer hadn't wrote it. They crammed Return of the dark Knight, Death of Superman and some Rando justice league in together.
To me, It seemed like a comic book as a movie instead of a movie about a comicbook.
Your dealing with a smaller production house that is notorious for getting cold feet on big projects.

I follow the books and this movie only did the same in bits and pieces. It took basic premises and flipped 'em around in ways that tried to make an original story, but failed on all aspects(in my opinion). Snyder wanted to desperately play catch up to Marvel and this movie reeks of that notion with its crammed, hodge podge of shit bad story telling and horrible character development. Affleck was really the only redeeming quality of this movie, which surprised me because I was originally adamantly against his taking the role.

This is part of the reason this movie wasn't as good as it could have been. Stick to one of the 3 source materials (death of superman, dark knight returns, or injustice) because trying to juggle all 3 hindered the quality.

That being said, having expected it to completely suck, I enjoyed it. Definitely not representative of the 29% fresh this movie is currently sits at.

I thought it was pretty bad, but I expected it to be garbage. 6 months ago, my gut said that they were trying to do too much in one movie. And they did too much in one movie. But I did like parts of it more than I thought I would.

That being said, everything felt super forced to me in regards to trying to catch up with Marvel's established universe. The convo between Wonder Woman and Batman at the end was like, "We're going to need a team for some reason, lucky we found all those YouTube videos of potential heroes that surely will want to join us."



It's funny you say this, because I left the theater thinking - just as I did after Man Of Steel - that Superman is supposed to be bright, colorful, positive, and hopeful. He's supposed to be a pillar of decency. These movies were just brutal and dark because it seems that Zach Snyder thinks that's the only way to be "grown up."



Disagree. Especially about Iron Man 3, which was really good.

I think the reference to who will be the villain in Justice League was done relatively poorly, as well.

This is why it doesn't work in my opinion. There is ZERO contrast between the characters. They are both brooding. One of my favorite comics ever is Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman. It's everything that is great with the character.

The script needs so much help. Here are some things that made zero sense to me.

1) Flash's "dream sequence". It would have been great if flash visited batman but he showed up in a dream. I get trying to warn him because he can time travel but dream travel???

2) Batman shoots the truck with a tracking device to track the kryptonite. But then he decides to get in his car and just follow it and destroy things. AND then what could have been a cool scene is played out off camera. Why not skip the car chase and show him break into lex corp.
(Batman: Do you bleed? ...Superman: "Yes..why? Batman: "...eh I don't know. Just wondering.)

3) The meta human files with cool clip art logos from Lex. So lame.

4) They spent 1 hour + building up about the destruction of metropolis. God vs Man etc. And THEN in the end they do the same level of destruction on the island. THANK GOD it was abandoned.

5) The CGI with doomsday is so bad. It reminded me of the abnomation in the Hulk movie. It just immediately took me out of everything.

The nolan movies were great. But D.C. has done a terrible job with their properties. You don't need a great director but you do need a good script.

Although I have no intention of having a look at BvS, I was just about to single out James' statement! Dead right about Morrison's comic, Bryce - what a joyful and engaging read.

So is anybody else looking forward to the new Preacher show? I like the actors they cast for the main three characters from other shows (especially the guy from Misfits).
