That one time it was meant to be
A few weeks back I thought I missed out on a crazy good deal but it turns out that I was wrong. I'm still baffled as to how this thing was still available after such a long time, I guess it was just meant to come home with me. I didn't feel right just taking it so I offered the guy my 3 detolfs that I won't be needing anymore thanks to this beautiful display case. It ended up working out for the both of us.

Re: That one time you missed out
I know, I'm bummed out that I'm not organizing my toys in it now. I might drive to Anaheim to get a pair similar to this one for 500.

Damn the lighting on that display looks good, I really like how the whole bottom lights up. That was cool of you to let your friend take it. $300 at your doorstep isn't bad at all. I'm getting quotes of $200-250 just to deliver the 2 cases I'm trying to get.

Last night I checked Craigslist and found the best one ever for way below my target price, it was FREE! I saw the ad at 11pm and noticed that it had been posted 5 hours prior. Of course the next morning the ad was gone. Faak! I hate myself for not checking any sooner, this thing was beautiful! It is still available... listed 2 days ago http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/zi ... 81444.html

Re: That one time it was meant to be
Damn thanks again Kayy! I got in contact with the guy earlier today and he said he'll hold it for me until tomorrow. I picked up all of the glass pieces tonight and tomorrow I'm bringing the rest of it home with me.

Awesome stuff! Congrats on a nice display case, and just goes to show that things can come along at the right price when you are dedicated and patient (not unlike in this hobby) - and also to never give up even when it seems you have missed out. I have been hunting for a good case myself for years, but having been living such a Bedouin lifestyle of late has made that a no-go anyways. [And not being anywhere near an Ikea doesn't help either]. Just to say that I know well this frustration. I look forward to seeing pics of your new setup loaded with toys.

Re: That one time it was meant to be
^^ congrats on the find. nice cases for cheap are very rare.. if you haven't moved it yet, I would bet that it can be disassembled. you should check it out. if its built like my display (it looks very similar), you could pop the top and bottom out of the aluminum frame to reveal allen bolts to loosen the frame and remove all the glass. that way you can move it in pieces..

Nice score. I need to invest in better displays..I default to detolfs b/c I'd rather spend the money on the toys, but detolfs are generic looking and space-constrained for larger sculpts. I haven't been happy with mine other than the price.
Big cases rock.

Thanks for the heads up! It turns out that the display case was there when the guy moved into the studio and he's been trying to get rid of it but nobody has been able to get it out of there since there are two flights of stairs and it didn't fit in the elevator. We took it apart and it's home with me, just need to put it back together.

Big cases rock. Yeah man I really lucked out with this one. I totally agree with you on the detolfs, the price point is good and they hold a decent amount of toys but when it comes to bigger toys they don't stand a chance. I highly recommend looking daily on CL, OfferUp, letgo etc. for a bigger display case. If you can find a decent used one for 150-250 you're set.

You're right though patience and dedication paid off. I'm going to tell you like I told Mike Bev, check Craigslist, OfferUp and letgo daily and you're bound to find something good (at a fair price). I'll post pictures Wednesday or Thursday once I have assembled the display case.

At first I thought I didnt like the mirror, but i think it will be awesome to see the whole figure. Only thing i would do is paint the gold black, but thats me.
