Post Video Game OST's
Anybody else out there like to jam out to some 8- bit goodness? :P I love listening to old OST's while I work on the computer.

I grew up in the hayday of the original NES system and have a real nostalgia for those games. I think some of the soundtracks were pretty great compositions. To make something so listenable with limited means has always struck me as cool.

A few classics to get the ball rolling:

We had a little jag about that over in SOTD last month: viewtopic.php?p=892959#p892959
Cool to see a dedicated thread about such nostalgic dorkery here.

"Bloops and a bip-bip - 8-bits!"

Total dorkery, to be sure!

Also, thread should not be limited to old soundtracks. But I think they are the most fun.

One of my favourites:

And a dance classic:

Data-Discs is doing a great job releasing videogame soundtracks like Streets of Rage 1 & 2 or Shinobi III among others.

^ Ha! Reminds me ~

Yet another way of showing my age:

No soundtrack to speak of, but if you listen to the game play long enough you get a kind of minimalist symphony of layered rhythms and abrasive sounds. :D

EDIT: Forgot an "of."

One of my favorite video game BGMs of all time, whose melody gets stuck in my head constantly:

Aside from that, I tend to not take note of the music in games unless it's incredible. Some standout favorite soundtracks that come to mind:

Jet Set Radio Future -- It had lots of licensed tracks from Grand Royal, and preorders even came with a bonus music CD. The music selections fit the attitude and feel of the game perfectly. Incidentally, it's one of my favorite games of all time.

Jet Set Radio -- Also one of my favorite games ever.

Rez -- " "

Journey -- " "

• Everything Street Fighter II and beyond

While i know the pure remakes probably have no place they are still inspired by the classic 8 bit but Castlevania Symphony Of The Nights music has always been truly next gen as is.

And its really cool seeing some of these classic 80s and 90s songs redone in that 8 bit style NES way. So if some one made it and you can physically listen to it than its legit to me lol.

Here is an original OST of Abadox: The Deadly Inner War. While not well known by allot of ppl this is one of the hidden gems i talked about when i posted some pictures of old games in "What Video Games Are You Currently Playing?" Section.
