Can you explain the steps that are required from original art to finished product?
How many colours can you use? What are the size limitations? Man, that jsut sounds totally cool.

well the hardest hpart is the computer part...i find the image...i made it the way i wanted it to look in photoshop(i just drew a crappy smiley face)....and then i posterized it....then i had to prepare for the jacquard loom...i take it into to a program called jaqCAD...in this i have to assign a weave structure to each shade/color that i am using...for a 2 color weave (2 colors plus the loom's warp color which is black) i have to prepare it so some colors show through and some dont....this is a total pain in the ass....for the 2 color im doing now its the green and white w/ the black....after i do all the computer shit...i take it to the loom on a thumb drive and digitally weave it...i weave it myself but the jacquard loom decides which threads are to stay up and which arent supposed to stay up....i have to slide my colored yarn (which are on these little shuttle things) back and through these threads...ahhh and then i do this until its my desired length!
weeeeewwwwwwww!!!!
*oh and the the most width i can get out of it is 880 threads wide...i forgot how many inches but the length can be infinite!
heres a picture of some random lady using the same loom i use:

And here I thought it might be as simple as prepping a file loading it into the computer and watching a custom rug come out the other side! Sounds fun though. I'd love to give this a try.
Is that part of a textiles course or something?

Sweet! I had a teacher for 3D design that would hand sew pieces that would end up looking like a photograph, she was amazing. That loom looks like fun!
