Post JERSEY SMOG DOG SMACKDOWN!
Tonight a minor Nerdquake (2.0 on the Ramos scale) was detected in Clifton, NJ.

No hot dogs survived.

have any of you Jersey eaters ever been to Frank N' Fries in the Woodbridge area?

it's some hot dog shop that serves Texas Weiners (the best!) and has Frankenstein lab decor. I tried to stop on my way to the city one day but they were closed.

anyone interested in making the trek out there or meeting me for lunch some day?

That place sounds pretty cool, kinda far south for me.

I'll meet you at Rutt's wearing a Frankenstein mask.

I won't leave Bergen County for anything under 5 grease stains.

Just kidding, that looks pretty great. I like the twice fried fries, and the char grilled dogs.

Great, now I'm hungry.

For me, In-N-Out is good and all, but getting a little mainstream like Mickey D's.

I'm old skool and prefer:

The original owners had it closed for about a year. New owners opened it this week I think. Old owners were good people and had good food but nothing great. I'll have to go check and post back. But even with the old owners it's nowhere near somewhere like Rutt's in quality dog.

I've always wanted to go to White Manna but it's so far north I've never been. I expect a full report!

I'm always on a search for "Texas Weiners" (that doesn't sound too good, does it?)

I'm kind of spoiled by having grown up in a town that has like 3-4 different hot dog shops that are all pretty good (Yocco's, Pott's, Pete's, etc.).

I've tried finding a good place here in Philly, but no such luck. there are a couple places that sell TW's, but I haven't thought any were that good. then all the rest just carry chili dogs, but they have the lumpy bean chili, not the saucier, finely ground beef only chili of a TW. a lot of the places here sell them some crazy way with a fish cake slapped onto the hot dog!

you'd think with this being such an "eatin' town" that I could find a good hot dog shop, but it's pretty much strictly cheesesteaks around here. not that that's bad, mind you, but I need some good hot dogs already!!

Are you serious! Hackensack (theSack!) is right up the road from Clifton.

I grew up in Hackensack, so I was suckled at the teet of White Manna! Truly my favorite burger place.

Skylar, you can even get them without onions!

FYI, Hackensack is also famous for the "Hackensack sliced steak sandwich". Sliced steak on toast points covered with garlic butter.

D, you went to Oxy??!! Crazy. I grew up near Eagle Rock in this little nook called Mt. Washington. The original Vans retail store is right there too on Eagle Rock Blvd. That's some old skool shit right there.
