5 best horror movies of all time
go ahead. do it.
I want to see what your horror tastes are.
I don't think I could ever pick just 5 favorites, but here are some of mine:
1. The Abominable Dr. Phibes
2. Burial Ground
3. Carnival Of Souls
4. Pieces
5. Tales From The Crypt (the Amicus anthology, not the HBO TV show)
once again, that's just 5 good ones I can think of.

The Exorcist
The Omen
The Shining
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Psycho
There's overlap with my sci-fi list and horror.
i.e. The Thing and Alien could theoretically be labeled horror

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
2. Return of the Living Dead
3. Son of Frankenstein
4. Spider Baby
5. Day of the Beast

I liked the remake also.
I can't believe so many of you are saying the Exorcist. I think it's probably THE single most overrated horror movie, if not movie in general, of all time.

If you want something more subtle, The Devil's Backbone is a great ghost story. And even more subtle, The Innocents (the early 60's version).
And if you want extreme, watch Jennifer on the Master's of Horror.
And there is always Audition.

I went with more of the classics. Devil's Backbone is great without a doubt though. If we go into Japanese and Korean Horror there's some amazing stuff I just dont know how it will stand the test of time. Tale of Two Sisters is good Korean horror.

i didn't quite hate it, just thought it was a little too slapstick. i'll admit i loved the shooting contests they had on the roof.
the funny thing is that i thought george romero could've made it a lot better. that was until i saw land of the dead. *shudder*

as i love and collect horror movies with animals have to ad:
jaws
alligator 1980 's ....with robert forster who ruled in jackie brown
lake placid .....(adorable bridget & the coolest animated scene: croc vs. bear!!!)
tarantula ........(the old one)
the ghost and the darkness .....(for a very subtle use of animation. lions been bigger but still lions and no cheesy monsters)
and of course polanskis vampires
