Post Any advance news of bugs in the first wave of Wii?
Hi all,

I'm not a gamer at all, so I have no idea about this sort of thing, but I thought some of you guys might have input- my son is really eager to grab a Wii shortly after their initial drop- should I advise him to wait a bit?
Is there any advance news of issues with this system?

Thanks, everyone!

-Mike

The Wii seems to be solid so far... no reports of problems that I've read. I'm looking to eventually pick up a Wii, so I've been following the reports relatively closely.

Cool, 'moco- thanks for chiming in. :D

My kid is so geeked for it to hit...he's been saving up for a while now...he's actually really good and careful with his money, for 9 years old!

I've owned every Nintendo console and purchased all of them on release dates. Never have had a single problem with any Nintendo product. (or Sega) Wish I could say the same for sony & microsoft. Nothing but shit from them.

I spent a good 2 hours at the mall today playing a bunch of different Wii games. All good stuff.

Also played "Motostorm" on PS3 as well and can't wait for that......in March....PS3 launch titles are such a bummer. Only console I haven't purchased on release night.

Seriously, my 360 is such a piece of shit. I literally punched it right off the shelf the other day. What the hell good is a console if you can only play games for a few minutes before it overheats randomly? Worst part about it is Microsoft totally denys it's got a problem.

In the early months of the launch last year, I know a lot of people that had 360 problems, however Microsoft customer service was pretty good about sending them replacement systems within a few days. I don't know how long the warranty period is but you should definitely bug them until they fix your problem.

Mine has been rock solid and I play the crap out of it.

It's the gaming flood season. Too much to play and not enough time!

I'm on my 4th one from those ass-bags.......All they do is "fix" the bad eggs they get in and label them as "refurbished" and send you that bullshit. I know a guy that's on his 8th 360 and it just started fucking up. It's just pathetic.
My local EB Games employee informed me that their demo PS3 locks up about once an hour......it is sitting in an enclosed case though so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until I read reports of this happening to consumers.

Just another reason to feel safe buying Nintendo though. Wii has supposedly been in production since march. No rushing=happy gamers. It seems like noone knows much about the Wii. I think once people play it they'll be hooked. I was suprised how easy the movements were to grasp.

Is the Wii going to be hard to get like the PS3?

Or will there be enough of these to actually go around?

From what I've read, it looks like the stores are getting more units in the first shipment than what they got for PS3's, by at least double, in most outlets. I don't know if there are plans for a second shipment before the holidaze, tho, so they could still be kinda scarce for a while.

just called the local gamestop and they said the 1st shipment is gone, but the next shipment will be in 2 weeks. He said I should be able to get one then. No reserve lists for that shipment...He said just keep calling back.

They are gonna be so tired of me calling by the time the shipment comes in :D

It's weird, Gears of War will play for an hour or two somtimes but it usually locks. But Call of Duty 3 always locks within the first 5 minutes or so just like Dead Rising did.

I think it will be quite possible to get your hands on a Wii before xmas. Depends on how much hype builds. Like I said it seems like a lack of excitement about it right now considering how different it is to other systems.

No, I had to stay overnight. Right after work I went straight to best buy, which is only a few blocks away from my place. I was going to see if there was a line or not, which there was. I didn't want to take a chance and come back in the morning & have it sold out, so I just stayed put. I lucked out because there were people who camped out a few places behind me and still didn't get one.
