Post My ten cents
There seems to be a little grumbling out there about the content here lately, and here are my ten cents on it -jump in afterwards with yours.

American or Western vinyl and/or new designer vinyl. Okay, some of this stuff sucks, just like some of the Japnese stuff sucks. Some of it is amazing, just like some of the Japanese stuff is amazing. I think there tends to be an overdramatization on what is or is not within Super7's scope. Since the beginning we have supported Japanese companies who we were friends with, and whose products we thought were amazing. Likewise, from the very beginning we have worked with American designers we felt the same way about -Biskup, Baseman, Kaws, Pushead, Schorr, Ugly Dolls, etc. Granted we skew very Japanese usually, as that is what our aesthetics lead us, but that doesn't mean some of this other stuff sucks -but some of it really does. Also, everyone collects a little bit of everything, I expect all of you have more than just a pure Japanese collection, whether it be Star Wars, Western vinyl, tin, or whatever.

Based on some topics from the last few weeks, here is what I think.

Mike Burnett -I bought one of his wood mexican wrestlers about 3 years ago. The arms work and everything. It is amazing. The plush are pretty cool, and we were considering making an Evil Super7 version. That would be tough.

Ashely Wood - giant robots are cool. You can't really argue that one.

Ledbetter minis - while being the poster child for the moment, I can't get into it. I can see why others might, they are very striking, but not for me. Additionally, I think there are ample places to talk about this product elsewhere, so, I suggest talking about it there. In fact, I think it has it's own dedicated BBS elsewhere, please use that one.

KFGU - A couple of these have been okay, but most have missed the mark entirely. I like Horvaths, as it looks like Horvath. That is why I made one for Super7. I like Biskup's, and had the colors have been better, it might have been one of his best figures, but the colors were not up to snuff on most of them. Frank's was okay to me, it was too much head on too little body, but it least it sort of looked like a kaiju. The rest left me underwhelmed. Too stylized, simple, clunky and missing that "edge" that classic kaiju had.

Jim Phillips Screaming Hand - an amazing graphic that will live forever. The graphic is a classic. This should have never been made into 3D. This is a perfect example of someone making a 2D object and trying to make it 3D -if you don't design in 3D/views, don't make it. Those giant metal wires holding it up ruin everything. and it is a statue only. It looks just like the drawing, the problem is, it was only meant to be a drawing.

Phyden/Exellis - I know exactly where this guy is coming from, and I applaud the retro effort. I think they are cool, but not something I will collect. That said, the dude is sticking to his guns and making a distinct toy for a distinct style. I can only praise that, and I wish him success. Heck, we might even carry these.

James Jarvis Yod - not sure. It looks like a James Jarvis toy, but not much else. I thought the guys he used to make, especially the metal were interesting, but I never bought them. This even less so, I wonder why you bother making something so devoid of personality. That said, King Ken was bad-ass.
