the only real failure would have been not to start... so in the end it was success if for no other reason than you dared to try.
all this talk of constructive/non-constructive criticism is total bullshit. do what makes you happy & fuck all the rest. as henry miller said... "artists don't thrive in colonies... ants do"
keep moving, D.

keep moving, D. Kinda true, constuctive criticism is more for hobbiests or tradework where shit has to be a certain way or else. If people influence what your doing in your art it fucks with your head and its always in the back of your mind, atleast for me. I think its much better to just do it how you want till the end without showing anybody. If people don't like it in the end sucks for you, on to the next one. I think most artists can edit themselves and know what's good. If theres a ton of people saying I wouldve liked it this way, then maybe you take that into consideration for the next thing. Or maybe you say "nah I wanted it like this too bad!" either way I'm glad that you're going to go the self-sculpted route.

Thank you Andy! While I do have a new mask, I probably do need to replace my cartridges. Thank you for your concern.

Or maybe you say "nah I wanted it like this too bad!" either way I'm glad that you're going to go the self-sculpted route. Good lord. Do you guys know lots of artists? Every fucking writer I know works closely withe their editor and/or in enclaves of other writers to bounce ideas off of. Same thing with most of the graphic artists I know. All the sculptors I know. And so on... The fucking point isn't whether one particular artist prefers a helpful objective point of view or not. The point is ego. This isn't god damned rocket science: YOU are not your art. Just as YOU are not your abilities or your accomplishments. For some damn reason, some people can't seem to extract their own fucking egos from the equation. I'm not necessarily referring to this particular case, but whether you like to hear what others think or not should be a relaxed, chill (even trivial) decision...not the fucking life or death of your project.

 Re: Rikishi Cancelled
Take an art class at a community college or state college or museum school. Specifically sculpture. Maybe work in clay.
Get used to group critiques where you have to put up your piece along side others.
I did this years ago when I was in school.
I had two professors and fellow students rip apart my work. It can be brutal at first........

But much better for your growth than having your as licked every time you drew a line, right? Get over it...if you're serious about making something, then go back to work...art isn't easy, it's not a fucking game...a lot of people work really, REALLY hard at it...and still "fail." My first bit of advice? If you do your OWN work, you may feel stronger when people criticize it... this thread was absurd.

 Re: Rikishi Cancelled
Like I said before. This was NOT IN ANY WAY cancelled due to what was said here. I was 100% ready to go forward with this... The sculpt needed major revisions for both I and the sculptor to be happy, and at the end of the day, it would end up being more his toy, than my toy... And that's not what I set out to do, and he didn't want all the credit...
I have sculpted many times on western toys, so now I'll just try sculpting a full figure...
I got super pumped about getting this guy going so I rushed to start the kickstarter... Got alot of feedback good and bad, and true!
Let this fucking thread die already... It's over!
