Believe it or not, there are a lot of toy makers who post their in-progress shots and a lot of really great photographers using the #sofubi tag. It's how I find out about new toys and I've learned to love (or hate) some sculpts by seeing them in different poses on IG... Keeps me from making stupid impulse buys. Of course there is the occasional guy dying to show off his "hella sweet hype kaijoo" (and then trying to sell it a month later) but that's actually been less common than Funko posts. You must be following some real jerk bags!

Man, I was hoping this would become the NagNagNag thread of American Idols. O don't you worry, we are well on our way to making this just that. Gotta be a little patient, give this thread some time to bloom.

It's not the points that you've been making that bother me, Glenn, it's the seemingly constant restating of them, in primarily the same language as before, but with ever escalating condescension thrown in to frame the repetition. I honestly don't even remember how I originally felt about your post that started this thread because I'm so annoyed by the high-handed defensiveness that you've been throwing down. I feel exactly the same way.

Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!?
I just bought a glitter Hikari Batman from fleabay pretty cheap and i think it looks nifty. Please savagely slag me off and tear me a new one. I deserve it for buying fake sofubi.
In my defense, i love Batman and i love glitter. I couldn't help myself.

Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!?
Not this thread again. Ha, for shame, the Moog. I say, big deal. You bought it because of the Batman association, not the "sofubi" made in China. boon velvet wrote: bryce_r wrote: ... Lastly, for the average person who collects ninja turtles...I could see them give a shit. They either like the product or don't. True. Those of us who like the figure for the character's sake will be the ones collecting these guys, even those who might buy in to the marketing hype won't collect these unless they like em... Which 1 did you get Moog? My Brother got a Ninja Turtle & a couple of the Batman figures for me because I collect sofubi. I was appreciative while also trying to explainthe difference. I don't think he really understood. But I collect all sorts of toys anyhow. I decided to keep 1 of the Batman pieces. The other 2 are available for sale if anyone happens to want them. I went ahead and got a Metaluna Mutan and Stay Puft Marshmallow Man for the same reason of liking them for what they are. Not sure if I would have bought any myself though had I not seen the Hikari figures in person first with the ones my Brohaha gave me. With us sofubi collectors able to see through Funko's presentation of the Hikari line, it is just hard to trust them in knowing what we're actually going to get. But although the paint jobs are obviously a little rushed, it's not bad, and I do enjoy the ones I have. There are certain sculpts that don't make sense to me in this body style at all though, like their Tetsujin, which I wish was different, cause I really like 1 version that isn't available like that in any other T28 toy of any type. As long as you know what to expect with quality, you like the figure's look, and don't care about supporting Funko, get the character if ya want it. I still think that if we're going to talk about Funko Hikari on SB, it should be moved to another section.

^ I've also got a weakness for glitter & clear. Here are some pic references to my above post too. The Batman gift I'm keeping + my Metaluna mutie & Marshmeller feller : The Batman & TMNT I have up for grabs if any are interested : That Tetsujin I mentioned :

Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!?
^^ The Mr. Stay Puft is cool and i quite like the Metaluna mutie, too. I also like the Astro Boy and some of the Jiangshi: I see nothing wrong with these toys - other than the fact Funko are misleading people by misusing the term 'Sofubi'. The RRP is pretty high too i suppose. It also makes me laugh that 1,500 is considered 'Limited' I had no idea what 'Limited' meant until i started collecting Kaiju . . . .

Re: Funko Sofubi?!?!?
Haven't seen it happen yet, but I'd like it if they became a gateway toy for some folks to get into the more esoteric soft vinyl. Most are decently painted, and the sculpts are solid.
Metaluna mutant is worth getting, I bought one, and was fairly impressed.
They're great as cheap custom fodder too, with the Batman, Transformers, TMNT, and Skeletor molds consistently selling dirt cheap on amazon or ebay.

I mainly just like the Funko POP chibi figures but some of these Hikari ones are really awesome.

I'm a fan of the Star Wars wampa hikari. Pretty awesome sculpt and fits in nicely with my other sofubi.

That's my grandfather's name, yous sone uhva beetch. The Moog wrote: ... I see nothing wrong with these toys - other than the fact Funko are misleading people by misusing the term 'Sofubi'... And there lays the rub. I also think adding characters to the line just because they're part of a popular franchise is a turn-off. Though I think people would be pleasantly surprised if they saw a Hikari character of interest in person. At this time, I would like to propose that that the name of this thread be renamed "Funko Fauxfubi ".
