Official SDCC Report Thread!

For those of you who couldn’t make it to SDCC – sorry dudes. It really is a headfuck – this year more than any other it seems…well for me anyway. The recurrent theme for me is that every other year it coincides with me getting sick. But I always forget about the pattern. So this year I got sick last Sunday night, started a new job Monday, came down with stomach flu Wednesday but drove down to SD that day (via various rest stops) so I could make preview night.

Wednesday was really hard going, Thursday my adrenaline kicked in and my credit card started appearing, and my mind was fully revved for Skeletal Carnival 3 (more on that later) which resulted in me “caning it” so by Friday I was walking dead.

So, usually I’d be writing this maybe a week later, but I had to leave the con unexpectedly early on Friday. I thought if I didn’t I’d end up either in bed all week, and therefore lose my new job, my house, my medical, my toys and my pugs – cos that’s how my mind works. So altho I missed out on some prime events like Flynn’s signing and customs – I was already cleaned out emotionally, physically and financially. Right now I feel like I will still be in bed for a week, but please, pray I am not cos I scored too may great things to lose ‘em to the repo man.

So, yeah I was extremely disappointed to leave early, but ask HMS how I sounded when I thought I might not go at all on Wednesday – I felt like crying. And that wasn’t just about potentially missing on great scores – its about seeing the people. This is where it really counts - all those internet names become faces again . Here’s some of those people highlights in no particular order:

Seeing people transform into sweaty fan boys in front of your eyes.
Seeing the Gargamel boys change tees every 3 hours.
Seeing the pus crew providing white glove service to the baying hoardes!
Seeing Yumi from SB arrive looking like she never left the store ot had a 12 hour flight.
Watching Lorne execute his TT Skullbrain liaison tasks with skill and dexterity.
Knowing my own face was totally dork-tweaked when I got the Pus call which resulted in the grail bag – but being unable to do anything about it.
Meeting the man behind Cure.
See Usugrow’s hair in all its glory (best hair at the con?).
Sharing Lamour’s Heavy Metal glory.
Marvelling at Connell’s insatiable toy lust.
Realizing Scary Andy’s Tattoos were rad and not how I remembered them at all.
Hearing that people were buying the LASK H and telling MK how they were supporting LASK!
Bugging Glenn about Ken, and him being a fucking rad guy about it all weekend.
Seeing Pushead smiling every time I saw him.
Seeing Shannon and Aaron (most adorable couple in jp vinyl collectordom?) giving out great vibes all weekend
Hanging with my LASK bro’s, like a port in the storm every time.
Soaking up Paul LePree’s smooth talk and laughing my ass off when he asked me if I blamed it on the Boogie?
Marvelling at Kirkland’s hover boots and wondering why he didn’t use them more often.

And that was just in 2 and a half days. There are a ton more things, and if I didn’t mention it – then blame it on the Boogie.

I don’t really k now what Fuckin’ A means – but I think the intent is right.

If I feel up to it tomorrow I am going to unpack my haul, and try and take some pics and write some more words in Muton’s minute. But right now I am heading back to bed to sweat it off some more. Cheers!
