Just got my Parasitic Phantom version and holy shit -- Everything about this toy is incredible. It's even better in hand than it appears in pictures.

It's funny how I've come 180 degrees with this figure. When I first saw the SDCC version, I was not into it at all. Then Kyoho came out and I picked it up and saw the light. Ever since then it's been love.

Can't wait for the Gore and Kozik versions to show up now.

That's awesome! I had no idea that there would be a Pheyden figure inside, that's a surprise. I like how the details are filled with paint that only shows in the dark.

Mine came w/ the aforementioned 5 parasites plus a goofy little gid elongated skull w/ a cap. I usually like 'pure' clear, but these guys look great inside the figure, so they are going to stay. I am diggin' it.

No skull here either and I was told I would get something special. Rats.

Can't complain though, this toy is my favorite to come by in quite a while.

I got my Parasite Sky Deviler yesterday, and it was actually handed to me by the actual Sky Deviler itself! Those claws are rough when you shake hands, though.

Gads, I got my Parasitic Phantom yesterday, too... Fantastic!! Of course, my receipt of said toy was perhaps less pleasant than Roger's: apparently, Sky Deviler, though dead, is my new arch nemesis. I wasn't expecting threats of violence along with my sofubi fix. How ironic that I love the toy of such a hated enemy. There WILL be a reckoning...

Anyway, Matt from Onell showed me a killer way to stuff more glow Glyos figures into this demented thing. Folks, I give you...GLOWIE SKELETON:

Basically, y'all probably know from the other thread on Onell Design's "Glyos figures", they can be pulled apart and put back together in other weird combinations. Well, if you buy a bunch of extra glowies, you can assemble yourself a skeleton for the clear Sky Deviler!!

Now, as Chief Glowologist of TBDX, I have to say that, while the red-glow figures are HOT, they're not perfect. Sure, the M.U.S.C.L.E.-esque pinkness drives me into near-homicidal fits of euphoria...and the glow is extremely bright and...well...extremely red...

But it is tragically short-lived.

This is what I was worried about. I've worked with glow paint from ReadySetGlo, one of many suppliers of the next generation strontium aluminate glow materials (as opposed to old-school zinc sulphide)...and one of their biggest shortcomings was their red glow powder/pigment.

As I found out by throwing some red glow paint on a shit-beat Toygraph 50% Mechagodzilla a couple years ago, the stuff just doesn't last very long. The powerful red glow will only give you about a minute of strong glow and after a few minutes, it's practically invisible in the dark.

The other minor shortcoming is that the red pigment used in the Glyos figures (and ReadySetGlo's hand paint) does not react to UV lighting. I haven't finished testing this out with the Glyos figures, but that's my initial feeling. I'll have more conclusive data soon...

Still, overall, this shit is tight. Folks, RED GLOW...red glow=gooder'n hell. That's all you need to know. No one else is doing red glow toys, so I have to give it up to Onell for designing such a work of art.

How can you pass this up!?

Image

Now, all I need is a CollectionDX Gore Sky Deviler. Ironic that I write for them...but still haven't had a chance to pick one up!

Edit: oh, news of upcoming Vegetius is VERY nice! Thanks, ironking!!

Hmmm seems my parasitic went out last week priority, but I didn't get it yet. I'm hoping the Letter Carrier didn't decide the box was too much of a bother to deliver.

This Parasitic Phantom from Onell Design is absolutely the best version of the Sky Deviler made to date.

Congratulations Matt.

Chief glowologist Sanjeev. Great title and I really appreciate you trying to figure out what gives a great glow.

It would be nice to know what figures glow the best, vinyl, paint, etc.

Whatever it takes for the science of glow, to blind us in the night and outdo the moon!

Keep up the great work and great pic!

Ike

Thanks for the kind words, Ike. Yep, I take my job pretty seriously (waitaminute--no I don't!!). :P

Toys are great--vinyls, especially. Adding a gimmick like gid or missile-firing just drives me bonkers! The glow fetish started 2-3 years ago and it ain't showing signs of letting up anytime soon...

Since then, I've seen LOTS of cool stuff with glow pigment...native glowies, non-glowies slathered in glow paint, glow paint or glow vinyl coating the insides of translucent vinyls, and of course, translucent vinyls filled with glowie stuff (from glowie Glyos figs to glow gravel).

I've seen it all!

Got mine on Monday after a little mix-up/delay. The figure is amazing, and Matt was sweet enough to throw in a few extra parasites for my wait: a GID Exellis
Image
and this little guy
Image

were packed into the Deviler (along with the GID Crayboth, & Pheyden). And there was a set of Original/Purple Crayboth in the shipping box. Sweet!

A big thanks to Matt for the great design and customer service!
