Re: New MVH vinyls !
Wow man, just got off Flickr. Stunning work, I like the eyes you ended up going with. I was thinking they would look good with and without pupils and the mock up confirms the second part. Royal blue is big in my book since getting the unpainted Boogie. I would love a deep royal purple and the tan Faceless Bull made me want more in that color. I bet you could come up with some wicked color combos on a nice tan color. I have to scream for double pours though I don't know about production issues. I would love to see a nice clear maroon with a dried blood brown inner pour to create a deep and realistic oxblood red. All of your ideas sound great so can't go wrong there.

Re: New MVH vinyls !
I like the sculpt and all, and am not accusing Rich of anything because I know he's been working on this for a while and put a lot into it, but what is with the whole skulls embedded in bodies trend? There's Elegab's Hitogomira, Skinner's Ultrus Bog, and now Rich's Sludge Demon 2.0. Is there some Japanese folklore monster or Kaiju with a similar appearance?

I know some people will say skulls have been done to death. But no one has done this... I want one painted like an old bone dug up out of the ground.

Hito doesn't have embedded skulls, it is puking up whole human corpses. UB was announced as being made into a toy after SD 2.0 so I wouldn't say it's suspect. Bones of all kinds have a pretty serious history when it comes to portrayals of monsters and demons. Even between the two they are used in different ways with UB having them more as a suit while they seem to be more a part of this fellow anatomy. They do fit the Grinning Death motif as well.

Re: New MVH vinyls !
The first time I saw skulls covering the back of a monster was Fewture's interpretive version of the demon Jinmen, from Go Nagai's Devilman, released in '99: (Incidentally, this is the toy I plundered to make my own skull-covered-backstravaganza, Ash of Death ( http://garamania.blogspot.com/2009/06/ash-of-death.html)). It's a pretty good bet that someone here with more expertise on Japanese folklore will chime in with more examples of this motif.

Re: New MVH vinyls !
Looking at the numerous sculpts coming out this year, it's amazing to see the detail in the clay before final casting. RIch spends SOOOO much time with attention to detail. Your minion is taking a bow. You the man Rich.

The amount of detail, just in the teeth on this, is inspiring. They look real! Amazing job Rich. plastichunter wrote: I know some people will say skulls have been done to death. But no one has done this... I want one painted like an old bone dug up out of the ground.

Re: New MVH vinyls !
I cant stop looking at this Rich! I love the sculpting on this thing alot. It's soo awesome how on the painted mockup the eyes look like they are glowing and floating in the sockets. reminds me of some evil creature lurking in the shadows.
My vote for vinyl would have to be yellow or clear.

Re: New MVH vinyls !
The sculpting on this is incredible! I love all the detail, and texture - but at the same time the texture is so clean and smooth. Terrific! As with most things, I'm not a fan of the doll eyes - so I'm happy to hear that it's an "option" and not integral to the figure. As cool as marbled vinyl can be, I think an unpainted marble will obscure a lot of the detail in the figure. I think it'd look pretty nice in that lavender that Ollie was recently done in. But I rarely buy unpainted... I like the double-pour idea! A clear outer with opaque inner could look really awesome.
