Re: MVH Sludge Demon
questioning the creativity of 2 of the most creative guys on the board is laughable
it's just a ridiculous argument that because pushead or blobpus released toys in jars or attached signed tags to customs, that anyone else doing it is just biting or not being creative. all these toys we collect have influences and that's what makes them great
this is an awesome collab

this is an awesome collab Secret Base also did a Halloween jar. How bout the old ship in a bottle. I think the old ship in a bottle came before Pus, Blobpus, and Secret Base. I mean really...if people are going to complain about having a toy in a jar, then you might as well complain about everything else that you use in life because none of it is really original. You want to say something about creativity or lack of, then critique it properly. Rich has my support.

I find it strange that people are getting bent outta shape over this. In a hobby where so many of the toys borrow ideas from other toys? And let's not forget - those siamese Captains and Pirates look effing STUPID!

Basically, since one person has done it, everyone else that follows should be looked down upon, made fun of, or be called non-creative. We're okay with having a toy in a plastic bag and cardboard hearder, something totally generic, unoriginal, uninspiring, uncreative...no matter how fancy or lame the art on the header is. If Rich sticks the Sludgie in a box with a clear window, people will complain about that because isn't that how the Gachamechas are sold (as if nothing else has come in a box with a clear window). Tell me, did anyone complain about the second toy that came in a bottle lined with straw when it was released. How about the third toy? And do you think the following companies cared about what people thought? Another interesting thing is the Rich even states that it wasn't his idea. It just happens to be his toy that's being used. Why don't you guys go blast John?

Rich,
you don't need to prove yourself to anyone except yourself. Quit fucking worrying so much about what others think about your art, toys, haircut, whatever.
You're way beyond that now. You have mother fucking BLObPUS painting your original toys now...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
stay above the fray....

If others like it then great, but if you aren't happy then its not worth doing. I think originality is overated. We are all happy to collect 100's of colorways of the same scuplt but always want originality. Seems contradictory. Anyway I like the Sludge Demon more and more. At first i though it was just a little statue but seeing all the paint jobs that have come I wish i had jumped on board earlier.

Rich, do you mean why do you keep trying to defend yourself or why do you keep doing toys? I think every release you make is just a clear example of why you should not stop doing it.

Re: MVH Sludge Demon
go to hell and if you pass heaven do not collect $200? these were my conceptions of the words sludge & demon both of which have personal meanings to me so i will just offer a small history of my influences which include shrunken heads and 'picked punks' of dark carinvals long ago which, for the uninitiated were basically deformed fetuses stuffed into glass jars of formaldahyde to 'freak' people out. hp lovecraft has had a lingering infectious grasp on my grey matter for anything monstrous or beastial, its in the blood. i took the MVH figure, his character, his creation & did one take on them in a personal silent tribute to the now lost era of dark carnivals not any other reason.
'words todded out like chum, are best left in the bloody flow or else one could lose ones hand"
everyone is searching some meaningful connection to their existence.. some think they will master the world some hope to dream and create to exist. i wrote the following story after selling my soul to the Quisp alien to extract it from pushead as he was sleeping OR after digesting sci-fi & horror for the past 4 decades, you choose. either way all of us will be wiping our own asses assuming we ate today and we are able to do so and do not have a hooked arm or other awkward complication. i make no claims anything i ever do is anything less than nor more than the relections that filter through my influence. i will not edjucate the uninitiated to occult worlds that once existed only share a perspective and insight.
“FRENZY!”

INDUSTRIAL HISSING SAW TEETH BITE AS GREEN BIO-FIBER STALKS SCREAM IN SYNCHONICITY, A RARE SINUED FORM LEAVING ITS AWARENESS BECAME.
EXTACY AS A VAPOR GASPING WITHIN THEIR HARVEST, SPLURTS OUT TRANSLUCENT BLOOD FLUID BEYOND THE GRAVE… EVAPORATING SLOWLY AT THE ROOT TO LIVE AGAIN.
IN GRIM RESIDUE FILLED REMAINS SLUDGE DEMON RESIDE. GROTESQUE LIVING NIGHTMARES, ILL MUTATIONS OF CATASTROPHE FROM THE VIRAL WAR OF THE OLD ONES.
WISE VILLAGE ELDERS WHO KNOW OF THIS DEMON SHUN IT REFUSING TO SPEAK ITS TRUE NAME ALOUD IN FEAR THEY MAY BE CAST INTO DARKNESS AND BRING THEIR DEATH.

Re: MVH Sludge Demon
I don't even know where to start ....
I didn't know that my toys where anything like what Pushead has done or does ?
Maybe I'm blind, but please show me the similarities of the Sludge Demon or the Cyclops Monster on a Pushead toy ?
Yes I'm a Pushead fan and hell yes I was influenced by him, but who inst ?
Hell yes the tags where inspired by Pusheads tags. I made mine after I got my first HP. I was blown away by the little extras that I wanted to make something as cool as that. That link that loco pulled up is almost 2 years old by the way and right around that time. When have you seen me make them again ?
All I did was make paper tags like him, and that makes me a rip off ?
What else did I do that makes me a Pus "coverband" ?
What you guys missed is this ....
Its not WHAT was done, but WHO did it ...
I don't even want to talk about this anymore because its stupid .....
I'm going to continue to make what ever the fuck I want to make and with who ever the fuck I want to. If you think its a rip or stupid or sucks and don't like it I don't care. I'm still gonna do it and I don't give a fuck. Add me to your ignore list or don't come to my threads. I just wont try to defend why I did it to the same ollllllll people anymore. Its tiring and not worth the time as you really don't care anyways. The same people just talk shit because that is what they do. They never really liked anything I did or do so when ever they can talk they will, and usually all at the same time.
I make my toys because its what I want to see get made. I sculpted them with my own hands and painted them the same. If I want to rip or homage any other toy I will. I make what I want to see in my collection and to bridge the gap to the other toys I collect plain and simple.
This release is fucking awesome and this Siamese slays. John did an amazing job and I stand behind it 100%. This isn't a rip what so ever. John had a totally different and darker reason and inspiration behind his version. And I'm dead serious if I can get those arms cast you will see more of this Siamese Sludge Demon.
I make what I want because I want that in my collection.
I'm just very VERY blessed that there are other amazing fans of these toys besides myself !

You're a fantastic sculptor and painter - don't pay no mind. You can't make a toy that everyone is going to like.

Why do you care what we think? You're not creating your art to please "us", you do what you do, because you love it, no? No explanation needed. Rich wrote: I don't even know where to start ....

these look great. although it is a shame that he decided to take the time to design, sculpt, produce, paint (well, in this case a collab.) and distribute a toy that other people think is cool and want to collect... like so many before him.
