---NT--- wrote:  $100!?! It's weird that on a product like that, in a run that small, even at that price (that seems sort of outsized for how the thing looks) 'They' only stand to gross $5000. Pull out what I'd imagine to be at least 20 percent in R+D and Materials, and you're down to $4k. The question then becomes 'what does one pay oneself for one's time on a thing like this?' Seems like a LOT of work to make a decen't week's wage, not to mention offering it at a 'more affordable' price point. Just think if it was offered at the much more 'reasonable sounding' $50 for a limited-but-non-articulated-and-unpainted figure' and it's immediately down under the 2 grand mark. Yikes. Maybe too much analysis for Friday afternoon I guess.

Re: Official SDCC 2008 Preview Thread (Spoilers)
i'll probably get made fun of for posting my own contribution to the "western" scene over here on skullbrain, but this is what i have lined up for SDCC... my Fred the One-Eyed Carrot plush figure (made in collaboration with Lina) will be on display at the DKE toys booth (4732). it is not for sale, it will be there for display to gauge public interest in the figure (as i am heavily considering taking it into production). so swing by and check it out in person, since pictures don't do the figure justice. if you like it, say it! if you think it sucks then say it more quietly so they don't hear you. here is a picture of Fred, the one on display will most likely have a different hat...or no hat at all... also, i will be debuting a plush figure (also done in collaboration with Lina) of one of Fred's sons, a baby carrot! the same story as above applies in regards to it not being for sale (yet). but seriously, if you dig the figures, then please let them know! also, at the Mattel/Hot Wheels booth in conjunction with Gallery 1988 I will have my custom VW Hot Wheels bus on display (and for sale to any interested parties) from the Hot Wheels anniversary art show. their booth is 3445 here is a pic of the bus...

Someone sold one of the Bwana resin pieces on the board, with the Giger Alien head. In the pic in this thread it is the milky white one with teeth facing the camera. It was a lot cooler than the shroom sex toy thing... In a Giger sorta way.

It would seem that for every interesting toy, there are another dozen kinda sucky ones...the ratio is not good...at least the "Giver of War" is not wearing big shoes and sporting a turntable accessory...
