Absolutely LOVE the Hawaii (or "Tokyo", if you must).

That's weird most people find one-offs more appealing because the personality of an artists work tends to show through a lot more. I think you can get the same feelings from a regular release (depending on the artist), but when a artist is painting without restrictions, he can run wild. When you paint 50 of the same colorway, on the same toy, it tends to turn into factory work.

I also think they all have subtle differences that will make it easier for Paul to identify, who (if anyone) is flipping his toys.

Edit: I wrote this before Paul wrote what he wrote, he sums it up better than I.

I LOVE painting Mockbat.

The only bummer. Having to go back and paint the extra alternate blooms because I forgot.

But I've built a wooden"jig" to hold them to be painted while I paint the bat. it really helped.

live and learn.

I've rigged up chopsticks with what most would call roach clips.

It works really well, I can just clip it onto the ridges of whatever I'm painting, and get 360 degree coverage.

Back to awesome.

There were many B&W saucer bats. But even those have their individual nuances.

i thought the best way to get to know my figure was to just go nuts, experiment, and let everyone who entered and won, benefit from it.

I like painting wild and free mostly, it breaks the monotony and I have fun and enjoy the hobby.
If people want to trade them and be happy, even better.
If it's well received, as it seems to be, I would definitely like to do it again! NO problem!

Very cool & fun! I'll make sure to pay more attention in the future! :P At some point I need to get my hands on both a Joe and a Bat - absolutely lovely figures.

Yeah, MOST people. But I'm not into customs/one-offs at all. I like looking at them - but I don't want them in my collection. I don't really know how to word my feelings towards them - pretentious definitely is NOT the right word (due to the negative connotation) but it's something vaguely along those lines. If I want something one-of-a-kind I'll buy artwork. But when collecting something it should be...collectable! If there's only one of something it's not a collectable.
I know there are a few other people who feel the same way - maybe they can more eloquently say what I'm having so much trouble saying.

Mass colorway prototyping, along the lines of pretentious?

I usually call it progress.

But like I've said too.

Don't like it.

Don't get it.

I totally agree. I don't collect one offs (though I do have one MM PK), small runs are ok with me though. That aside, I view all of these as one "run" and that is how I justified entering the lotto in my head. One offs are too much like 'art' and I like toys, to me that means there needs to be a run of them that are all a like. Not that all customs are art by any means. ;)

I get in heated arguments with people about which one is better.

http://youtu.be/ydRDzKu-_OE

I like Shuggie's wayyy more than the Brothers Johnson.
Shuggie's was a one off.
The Brothers Johnson version is a knock off.

Oh s#!t... don't be talking smack about the BJ, everyone loves the BJ. We are talking about the band hired by Quincy MF'ing Jones to record albums and tour Japan! Seriously though, Shuggie killed it but the song made a great transition to funk. I have to give credit where due, but the Brothers did it justice IMO.

Wait... what were we talking abat?

Late to the party on this comment but please do man. All these pics popping up are driving me nuts. Awesome toy and paint apps. Congrats to all those who scored.
