Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
That's true man and well said^. Here is something I found from 2007 in a TOYSREVIL blog. 1.) I like that Jeremi has been doing his thing that long. 2.) It's a nice summary on why his stuff is kind of not for everyone. http://toysrevil.blogspot.com/2007_08_06_archive.html"Jeremi Rimel (Miscreation) is an artist best known for his horror doll-works, creating a line of custom vinyl dolls called "Autopsy Babies" which are gory, twisted, zombified baby dolls that appear to have been mutilated, dissected, then put back together comparable to Frankenstein. The dolls can be offensive to some but are so over the top that they can come across kind of humorous to others..." So to each their own indeed.

Personally I like some cute to contrast with the creepy (a good mix of the 2 seems to be the winning combination in toys that have long-lasting appeal), and just don't find that balance here. I don't look at the Autopsy Baby as "kaiju", but since comparisons were made, here goes: Ollie does indeed look menacing, but also has an unmistakable "loveable lug" quality to him (the smile and pot belly really help). Cadaver Kid is downright adorable for the sewn-together abomination he is. Cadaver Twin probably falls closest to the Autopsy Baby, but still exudes a certain charm (especially with the bug eyes) that I just don't see in the latter. Not knocking anyone's appreciation for this figure or the talent of its creator. Different strokes for different folks.

Not knocking anyone's appreciation for this figure or the talent of its creator. Different strokes for different folks. Since my toys were mentioned. I let a lot of stuff and western toys go on this board without weighing in but... Diggler, CK, Usir, lab mice, and others are all about duality. The twins to me are cute, some don't see it, I think they are with the SD preportions, but they are also about brotherhood and having a friend in the most terrible of times to share with. I like dark toys, All I hardcore collect anymore is Karzworks. I will take a million demon and beast toys. Not all toys need to possess duality. If you're making a beast, make a bad ass beast with 0 cuteness. If you're making a demon, make a bad ass demon with 0 cuteness. This toy has balls, and that's more than I can say for most toys. I frankly find all most "designer" toys insulting. They look like they were made for 10 year olds and lack any guts. We can't handle adult themes? We don't want to contemplate adult themes? However, baby doll bodies just do nothing for me. I think this toy is very well done, and it doesn't need duality, it is what it, a hardcore dead bemon baby. And that's cool. Just the platform doesn't appeal to me. Go home Joe, you're drunk.

The fucked up thing is that I find this toy too over-the-top, yet I am currently trying to start a Longneck Death Menargo collection.....yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
I think Joe said it better and in a way that I couldn't formulate into words. The fact that Jeremi said "fuck it" and went all out, despite dead babies being offensive and taboo, is awesome to me. He didn't pull back and/or play it safe. He made exactly what he wanted to make. And while it's obviously not for everyone, it's for me, which is what ultimately should be the only determining factor.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
There are new babies in the lulubell newsletter for nycc...
They are absolutely amazing to me. I love the colors marbled with the clear, they look especially off-setting, especially those green streaks. I am definitely interested in a mule for one of these guys.
Luke just keeps pushing it with what he does with marbling, this is great.

Hell yes! ^
The marble mix is so great for the figure. look like flesh with pus, bone and a bit of gangrene.

Yup, love the marbling on these. The colors bring out all the details, and work so nicely together.

I like this. The Iron Monster 15" towering sofubi inspired by the evil robot in the 1939 scifi/horror serial The Phantom Creeps.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
At first I found the sculpt extremely boring, but now that Francois Le Grand exists, I think this figure would act as a really nice companion to francois, as they are similar looking characters, almost as if this one is a mecha version. So that's fun.
And I didn't know it came from something. Seeing that still, I would have liked the sculpt to be in a pose like that. Just standing straight looks too weirdly static, it doesn't really work for me.
It's a fun piece though.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
Quick group shot! The new NYCC is insane, Luke did so well on the marbling. I really couldn't be happier with how it looks, the clear mixed with all the other colors really brings out its detailed off putting appearance, its great.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
I think it's worth posting a better pic of this guy. Take a look at the marbling on him, Luke clearly put a lot of effort to make it look like a bunch of barf, it's so good. The super detailed sculpt works so well with marbling as well, giving the whole piece a very jumbled and messy look. There is just so much good going on.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
When I got my first, real full time job at 18 I took my first paycheck there and bought a little over $300 worth if CD's I couldn't find anywhere else, as I also didn't have internet access to order online.
I can see the sentiment of feeling like this toy could be on their shelves. But I loved Tower, which in turn, I suppose, means I inherently love this toy. And I do!

Somehow the festering ghost azb from the Halloween show, which was sold out like 3 min after it was posted, was in stock. Guess someone added it to their cart and changed their mind. Thank god! Micro run score!!

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
Recently finished an edition of 12 Blue vinyl Autopsy Babies with Jeremi. "My Pet Gergle" we have been planning on doing this for quite a while, the bright blue vinyl was perfect for the project. We liked it with or without the eye so rather than gluing them in i decided to leave them loose, essentially just a bead made of sculpy and painted. The chains are real steel, I had a friend powder-coat each in the bright orange so its a baked on very strong coating.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
I hate these. I give Miscreation a lot of credit because hes quite the talented sculptor, just wish he put it towards something else.
Toph's version is the only one Ive ever seen that I can truly say doesnt completely freak me out.

Re: Miscreation + Jeremi Rimel + Autopsy Babies
Love this toy, so much detail possibly one of the most challenging pieces I have painted so far. Usually if something scares a lot of people then I want it for my personal collection.
