I did, however have Overkill with the giant sound effects backpack. They don't make action figures like they used to. They definitely don't! Thanks for posting these, Jason. I forgot all about that Overkill! Ha, you just added two more toys to my wish list

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Power lords were a really weird line of toys. They weren't clear and didn't change at all other than flipping around to reveal another face that was on the back side of the figure.

Yeah, the Four Horsemen are teaming up with Matt Doughty/Onell Design again to revive Power Lords...the same way they did the Outer Space Men. Should be hot given their combined creativity! justin wrote: Transformers 30th Anniversary line is coming later this year. This Metroplex looks awesome. Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
I'm already over the power lords reboot. Making adam power two figures destroys any interest the original line had. And I have to admit I always admired the line more for the look of the promotion and posters than the actual toys.

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Wait....WUT.
Adam Power and Lord Power are two separate figures??? Um...no.
The original toys may have been the usual Remco dreck, but the reversing-torso transformation was THE gimmick. Taking that away just leaves these as plain, old action figures. Gorgeously-rendered action figures...but plain, nonetheless. I was annoyed when I first heard their Outer Space Men weren't going to be bendies, but this is just too much FAIL for me... :/

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Yeah, is there any confirmation on that (i.e. the separate figures)? I totally agree, if you take that aspect away, what is even the point of rebooting them? Might as well just make two totally new sculpts and call it a set of twins (or transparent clone...or something) with a different backstory.

Speaking of fancy new figures, the new Bebop and Rocksteady sort of float my boat

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Steve, audiodifficulties' post prompted me to look em up. Sure enough, Toy Fair coverage shows plenty of pics of the figures. They look great, of course, but yeah--Adam and Lord Power seem to be quite separate.
And naturally, of ALL the coverage I looked at, not a single site even acknowledged that minor issue...
Well...at least Playmates seems to be doing great with their TMNT figures. Love that Bebop and Rocksteady!

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
I can definitely understand why Connell. Such a cool, unexpected visit. Ah yes, the much desired (at least on my part) second series of Sectaurs figures! I also keep thinking about that Hyve playset. Given how so many 'retro' toys have been rebooted lately, I am actually surprised that Boglins have not been reissued. The eye mechanics on those toys fascinated me even as a kid - it was like having something right out of the Henson workshop. And the cage box was typical 80s marketing genius. They were definitely awesome, not sure how parents felt about them though Damned if I could not keep the lint off mine though.

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Didn't the Sectaurs dude work for Henson at some point? I seem to recall something about him working on the Dark Crystal and the corresponding toys that never came out, or something. I believe it was in an article in Toyfare. Totally makes sense with all of the puppetry in the Boglins and Sectaurs mounts.

Wow, you are completely right! I had no idea there was that additional connection. His main job is as a puppeteer; in addition to The Dark Crystal, his credits include Fraggle Rock and Sesame Street. It all is starting to make so much more sense now. So cool, thanks for sharing that - have to admire him even more now.

sounds like a cool experience. : ) how did he react to the idea of a reissue and did he buy anything or show interest for anything in particular ? He was a totally unassuming guy. i did most of the talking. He seemed a little surprised and taken aback at my interest in his toys but very gracious at the same time. We talked for about 30 minutes and I showed him images of lots of new vinyl figures. Nag Balls, the LASH Sam Henious, Paul and Blobpus's toys that are in the current show. Talked about vinyl micro mini's and Gacha machines, the emergence of Japanese vinyl toy makers from the USA. I had about 10 windows open on the computer going back and forth between his stuff and new toys trying to convince him that there was still a market for his for what he does, old are new. i either planted a seed or totally freaked him out. I think he was amused at my enthusiasm.

I picked up a bag full of mini unpainted vinyl ones at a boot sale last year. I had no idea what they were called.

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Y'know, I loved the Sectaurs when they came out--especially with the mini-comics that came with each toy. But I just could never get all that into the puppet aspect of the ride-bugs. It's the same reason I never got into Boglins, even though the aesthetic was AWESOME. Anyway, if the Horsemen were to do a straight gimmick-less action figure reboot of a franchise, I would've preferred it be Sectaurs and not Power Lords...

I agree Sectaurs would work well. I would have expected to see Blackstar before Power Lords as well.

Wait, someone else know Blackstar?! He-man can't hold a candle against the child-me's love for those toys [and let's be honest, both cartoons were pretty awful]. The 'laser-light' sparker figures (I had the Palace Guard) were one of the coolest toys I owned, and I still love them as then. Haha, even the font in this ad is ripped off. And yes, Blackstar came first!! we won't talk about the toys though.....

That is hilarious about the font. I love Blackstar, lots of GID accessories and they all came with a little companion, what more could you want.. oh wait sparking action!

Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Does anyone else remember these 80's toys that had sticky roller-type wheels, and you'd race them down the walls or windows to your parents' horror (those damn oil stains)? I remember their tops, or shells, were like lil' upside down cups made of REALLY fragile, easily dented plastic, w' "cool" graphics printed on them. Underneath were 2 wheels, I believe, made of a sticky adhesive "wall crawlers" type substance. The wheels allowed them to actually roll down the vertical surface rather than flip, like most sticky wall walkers. Ha, & the "race" was determined by friction, gravity, and the degree of stickiness left. There was a balanced medium between your newest & oldest ones that made for the perfect racers But Damn, I must be loosing my googlin touch, because no matter the word combos I use, I can't come up w' 1 result! Its driving me Krazy w' a K! It's like the Robot Zone search all over again; very obscure, but very loved.
