i've wondered the same myself. (at least about similar kaiju toys)
Biskup is my last big hold out from lowbrow art/western vinyl.
i love my gamagons. they are a perfect complement to my straight up jp vinyl.

I have the Gamagon's myself. But I gotta say the similarity is so CLOSE ! I like Biskup too, but now it just seems like a CASH COW, same with BASEMAN. You can hardly even give away a Dumb Luck at this point unless it's the early versions. I guess it's just the nature of the beast. I collect the NEW kaiju because I like it. On the other hand it is so EXPENSIVE now, I wonder if it will ever go up in value. I even wonder if one will be able to get back any return at all if you need to sell down the road.
History lessons, Star Wars, Transformers, have you checked the BAY lately ? Kinda sad state of affairs. ONLY collect what you like - RULE # numero uno !!!

I wonder if Biskup owns this figure. It would love to know if this was the inspiration for the gamagon. Brian, do you have any clue about this?

While I've never seen that particular figure, it looks like Neronga, a 3-horned Ultraman kaiju that Biskup has likely seen. There are other versions in vinyl like B-Club and CCP. I'd give credit for originality to the triceratops, or maybe the rhinoceros. Gamagon is unique though - just look at his expression!
Not sure how Baseman figures in here, Mr. Shifta, but I don't think Gamagon is a cash cow - no udders.
