Post LEV'S NEW JOINT: HIGH 5
Image

I was in New York last week and I had to check out Toy Tokyo's new Brooklyn location. Actually it is called High Five and it is really much simpler than Toy Tokyo. This has a similar feel to Kid Robot, which is cool because everything is featured strongly. The store had some rad stock, but no prices on most of the items. Great location, right off of Bedford in Williamsburg.

I personally like Toy Tokyo's style of being overstocked and jumbled together. Everytime I got to Toy Tokyo I discover some weird toy I never saw before. I wish high 5 was like that, but I guess it just opened and it will soon be over stocked as new items are released.

It is cool that another toy store has opened in the US to carry these art/street/juxtapoz toys. How many stores are like this in the country now? 30? anyone have a list?

Does anyone think all these store will last? I was at tower records this weekend and I got a 400% balzac bearbrick for 12 dollars! it was on mega close out like all their other toys. I am wondering if Tower will continue to sell toys after this big sale they just had. or are they clearing stock for some sort of new toy marketing?

Hey Brian.
My local Tower has two of them I think. I'll check tomorrow for you. They may not be on sale though. Let me know if you want them and I'll see what I can do.

Is this a new branch? Or did they closed down the old shop?

For some reason, Toy Tokyo never answer my emails.

Post High Five
The store was awesomely cool. I didn't see the 5YL listed as a set, but they were each $400, with one of the gray ones signed for $450. They don't do mail order or shipping of any kind. They do share stuff with tt, so it might be possible to get it through tt.

They are trying to be a boutique--strictly high end--so I do not picture them ever having the clutter that tt has. Stock-wise, they have about 2/3rds the inventory of KRNY. They had lots of 400% Bearbricks, lots of futura, lots of Kaws.
