 Re: Amanda Visell Kanegon
Pretty cool. I really like wood stuff, and this is a great take on Kanegon. It really has that child's home balsam wood kit feel. Not sure I would pay 'designer vinyl' prices for this sort of thing, but I could definitely see it fitting in around my place. If there are more of the series to come, even better. The image link from the other thread was dead, but I wonder if this guy matches up with her art of the licensed figures. Okay, wrong thread for this, but I dig her related SW guys: More at the J.ME. blog.

 Re: Amanda Visell Kanegon
Oh sweet! The King Joe is definitely the winner for me. Too bad about the one-offs, but it lends a lot more to them in my book knowing that they are handcrafted.

 Re: Amanda Visell Kanegon
She actually has a few more:
EDIT: Henry posted the pics before me...
I believe "designer toys" prices are often in line with (neo-)kaiju's, but these are unique wood pieces, so more sculptures than toys. $800 each.
I'd love to see Amanda collaborate with s7. I mean, she obviously loves the stuff, and s7 have collaborated with much more unlikely artists...
And I agree S, King Joe ftw.

Pretty nice... really love the Bemler. One-offs conveniently get her around having to license them, too, I would think...

 Re: Amanda Visell Kanegon
^^ Definitely Oli, these are art pieces. Also, they are a lot bigger than I would have thought (11 inches) but judging from the Star Wars ones it makes sense. I should have been more clear differentiating designer toys from hyped toys. Super7 collab would be great to see. I don't want to take anything away from her unique pieces, but doing a larger run of some other figure from her designs, or even tees with these guys on them would be cool.

I like these a lot. I wanted a few in the past releases too. Wish there was a Gamera or MechaGodzilla but glad there isn't as I am broke.

These are nice.
Also nice to see a different more pleasant reaction to Amanda's work than when she posted on here a few years ago.

To be fair though, the last toy I saw her attach the word kaiju to was most certainly not kaiju in any sense of the word. These are really cool but like most beyond my comfort zone price wise.

 Re: Amanda Visell Wooden Kaiju
Kind of looks like something a smelly weird guy would sell at a craft fair...But wouldn't be getting anything close to $800 a pop for.

The Neronga looks like it's based on the B-Club reissue of the Bullmark toy.
Thumbs up to these, hope she flies under the radar of the Toho and Tsuburaya lawyers.

Doesn't Nucleus live from those? I'd otherwise be more scared of Lucasfilm and Sanryo...

 Re: Amanda Visell Wooden Kaiju
Only if you live in a hype beast world. And anyone wondering why she got a not so fond welcome the first time around was because she appeared first post to hawk her wares on a skullbrain where that was frowned upon and was still considered a "community." If she showed up now and did the same thing I highly doubt any of us would care. Some of these are cute, some are horrible imo. But I'd never drop any money on them. I've never been one to go for the artist driven "toy" market though. petitetoilonrouge wrote: audiodifficulties wrote: Its all about the name in low brow. It's all about the name in... everything?
