Best way to open bags and save headers?
I cannot keep my toys all boxed or bagged up. They need some air in my house. What is the best way to open them without busting up the header or the bag? I like to keep the boxes or bags/headers of my stuff. Would razering open near the top work the best? Suggestions? Joe

I can only tell you what I do with regard to figures that come bagged with header cards.
I carefully pry the staples open so I can remove the header card without tearing it. I throw the staples away.
I remove the figure, and then put the header card back in the bag, along with a note as to which figure belongs in the bag (DON'T SKIP THIS STEP), roll the bag down a little, seal with one piece of regular scotch tape, and store flat in a box.

so you do pry the staples off, huh. Ever crease or damage the header card?

staple remover, header in box of headers, bag rolled in box of bags, put away never to be seen again.
13th day fig will be storing the header cards soon. No bother figuring out which header goes with which figure unless I intend to get rid of it.

No, the staples bend up very easily, at least on the figures I have. I use a small pocket knife or something similar to get under the staple with and just carefully bend it up.

may I suggest some needle nose pliars for removing staples? I would have thought everyone here has a set... it is an essential part of your nerd kit, fits nicely into a pocket protector.

I stick the headers in the bags too, so I don't forget what goes with what!

hah!
Good point. I use the knife & toss method myself. Carefully slide the blade in and pry up, then gently lift away the header so as not to rip the staple holes.
That's what works for me.
But then again, I'm from Texas, so I always carry at least one knife around.

I pry open staples with my claw like fingers or gnaw them off with my fangs, then I take the toy out and huff the bag for like 5 minutes while looking at the header art until I pass out.

To pry open the staples I like this method.
1. Use thumbnail to begin lifting one end of the staple.
2. Insert sharp staple end into the tip of your thumb, or alternatively slide staple tip under thumbnail directly into a nerve ending.
3. Curse.
4. Repeat.
Good luck!
