It doesn't grate on me like it does most round here, on other buying platforms its a neccesery evil in order to get what your after, I buy and sell a lot through Facebook and without it your message likely won't be read. there are worse things newbies can do that aren't in the rules or enforced, just let them know via PM ( ) and they're likely to stop.

Whatever it may be in other forums isn't the point. What anyone else does has no bearing on what we do. Anyone who goes through the FAQs here, or who takes the time to familiarise themselves with the board before jumping right in t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶l̶e̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶r̶e̶a̶d̶s̶ ̶s̶e̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ , as they ought to be doing normally, should know from this that it is not the decorum for SB. Whether you agree with it or not, there are certain things this board uses for smooth operation and communal agreement, and this is one of those things.
It is also completely and utterly unnecessary. And if that isn't obvious then I guess I might as well just leave it.
TL;DR - PM'd is redundant. A thread to clearly point out - yet again - that it is not the norm on here, is not, because people refuse to get the message.
