Post Super7 - the rumor mill!
Super7 is dead? I did not realize we were big enough for the Rumor Mill!

Over the last 24 hours I have received several emails, and a few web links from concerned collectors that Super7 was somehow going the way of the dinosaur. (And then theoretically into oil, and then vinyl for more toys I suppose, but I digress.) Fortunately for us all, this is not true. If anyone has been watching Super7 as of late, you will notice that the store just moved into a larger space (3 times the size), we have been releasing more toy projects than ever, the magazine bumped up 12 pages, and went perfect bound. So, the truth, as usual, is just the opposite -Super7 is not dying, it is growing, and growing by leaps and bounds.

The speculation has arisen mostly from the fact that Super7 magazine editor, Justin Kovalsky is no longer with the magazine in a full-time position, as we transition the magazine into an even larger format -Super7 the MOOK! By taking advantage of our design resources, and wonderful printing contacts, you will see Super7 get even bigger than before, and with more contributors and toys. Yes, Justin will still be involved. This change has been an area of rampant speculation on behalf of a few people (who will go nameless) who seem to revel in waiting for us to fail. Sorry guys, we have much more planned than you know, and Super7 is not going away anytime soon -maybe you should come out for a toy release and find out why.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to shoot me an email directly, it is not like I am going anywhere!

-brian

You should do a clear orange Oni release with "Super7's not Dead" on the back.

What is a MOOK? Growing up in Hawaii I used to get chased around by something similar sounding. Should I be afraid.

Hmmm... I hadn't heard any of those rumors, but I'm glad you're not going to be turning into oil. :D

A MOOK tends to be a book that lists special moves for computer games such as King of Fighters.

Wiki: ""Mook" in its most common current sense, is the Japanese publishing industry's generic name for quarterly or irregularly published large-format softcover publications having more pages than a typical magazine, yet less pages than a proper book"

It refers to the size of the publication. In Japan, "mooks" are like like very thick magazines. I think originally the term came from adding "movie" and "book" because back in the 80s there were a lot of them dedicated to anime and tokusatsu movies and series.

A recent example of a toy-oriented mook is Gangu Jinsei (Toy Life), and if you don't have any issues of it, track them down, they're an excellent resource for robot and kaiju toys.

After reading Parka's explanation, the etymology of "magazine" + "book" = "mook" makes more sense.

Natural resources are pretty scarce and with our reliance on Middle Eastern oil, Super 7 oil may not be a bad thing.

Glad to know that my 100+ postings here won't go down in vain. :D

H! You're already got . . . you just don't know it yet! :D

My son just tally'd up an I've just hit my 50th piece of JPN vinyl since getting bitten by the bug at the beginning of the year! . . . I'm gonna go eat some pie to celebrate! :D

Oh yeah, glad to hear S7 is still going strong (although I was blissfully unaware of anything to the contrary).

I can only see you guys having a bright future. The magazine landed in Hong Kong finally. I am reading everything and realize I need to get the back issues. I can't wait for your next issue, new designed website, and more exclusives.

I never knew what "Mook" meant, but whenever I see that name on Japanese magazines, I know they are doing a special edition magazine (or a topic focus for the whole issue) and it's usually spot on content.
