Ok I was wrong. Partly tho, the NYCC versions did have screen prints I was told about, I was under the assumption it was going to be in the yellow ones.

This this is beautiful. I know your being sarcastic but c'mon now. You rather buy those ugly Ron English sprayed Mcwhatevers? Ron English isn't even a graffiti artist spray painting his toys looked like crap-ola.

I wouldn't take that home for free.
I never commented on the ron english supersize either way, and don't own one. Graffiti cred means nothing to me, I buy toys.

I had high hopes for the custom painted horse but from what I have seen I think he missed the mark big time. It almost seems intentionally bad to me. Am I missing something?
To be honest I can't get over the base on this figure so I am going to pass all together. They should have taken the time to figure out how to make it free standing. In the end this is a statue not a toy, bummer.

In my opinion this "customizing" job shows an almost complete lack of imagination and technique; it just looks lame and sloppy.
I'm sure I'll get shit for this, but it seems to me that pretty much anyone could have done this. Simply throwing paint at something does not make it art; it also requires thought and style. If this gentleman claims to be an artist - I'm not familiar with his work, as by and large the whole "graffiti art" movement leaves me cold - he should (hopefully) be aware of that.

I want to get one and a 12" Harry Potter doll, pose the Potter nude and re-create the climax from Equus.
like it or not at least the dude tried something different. I am surprised lucasfilm hasnt sued him over his 'handle'.

I would have bought one in NY for the retail of $100, but dropping $300-350 is way too much. I like the black custom better than the production, but still not in love - Im waiting for the SKWAK dunce looking guy for my next wester vinyl purchase.

They actually weren't bad looking in person, but the base just takes away from it.
makes it look like all the rest of the comic-based figures on stands that were all over comic con.

The base seems like a lazy way out of trying to balance the figure (if that is even possible). Maybe they could have added a tail dropping to the ground to have some tripod balance.
Still seems like a Warner Brothers statue gone wrong to me. The black version looks like an art student spraypainted it black and then dribbled flourescent paint on it.
The silhouette of the right arm is kind of interesting, but I overall I just find both to be unpleasant to look at, and it would never fit in with my stuff.
Someone mentioned Ron English, and I'm not a fan of his work either. The bling bling Ronald? The cowgirl with udders and the state of Texas stand? ughghhh.
I look at the Futura Nosferatu and seem something with smooth graceful lines and balance. Just seems more successful as a stationary figure.
Fortunately we all don't have to like the same stuff. Different tastes.

this would have worked better if it had been like a hobbyhorse on 2 skids instead of human legs. it would stand on its own and have movement as it rocked back and forth.

Well, as you asked - no, I am not digging this much at all. I guess I should see it in person before finally deciding, but.... so far no.
As you were bemonaing the lack of Western goodness, may I also suggest McSupersized as great Western Vinyl - love the sculpt and concept and most of the colorways (altho there were rather a few of them, BUT, I'm not complainng about that). The mid-sized figures are an amazing unsung and unhyped release!
Plus Jarvis of course, I'm even warming to the bigger Vortigen's figures as well now.

Liquidsky, interestingly this futura had a base
as well as this
and even this
all of which have a very statuesqe non toy feel to them. But I think the original art translated into vinyl sometimes should stay true to the art by any means. If I drew those futura characters i wouldnt add a tail to help it stand id give it a base no? Well as i said to each his own, again i love this piece and if i could afford it would own maybe 3 or 4 just to have different paint jobs of each. i also aggree i got mine on sunday from the mindstyle booth, but cant see myself paying 300-500 on ebay for it now, but as time goes on who knows. i definately dont have money like that right now. Ill try to borrow my girlfriends digi cam in the next few days to shoot pictures of mine. the picture above i took from vinylpulse cuz i love that pic.
And the MCsupersized item is cool when its a blank color i think, to see it painted made it sorta blahzay, and the hand sprayed ones where just yuck. And the one i seen on ebay claims the paint still isnt dry and has smears. And that piece is just one solid shape of vinyl no pieces or movement at all, talk about a statue.
