If I'm right, that is a figure of the baby Hyakkimaru from a manga called "Dororo" by Osamu Tezuka. This is a really great manga and a must read. I'm not sure if it is but this figure really looks like the baby in that manga. Also based on this manga, a live action movie should be playing in japan right now. I haven't seen the preview or anything but if your in Japan and have seen it please tell me how it was.

That Garasharp (along with the 2nd glow version) is my new grail. Fuckin' sweet.
Thanks for the info on the origin, John. Very cool. That other monster in the photos looks awesome as well.

Yeah I am on a quest for the others too, not cheap but actually work it. I may post some better pics. Good luck

I wish I had known people wanted this figure, I saw them at Wonder Fest last summer and they still had them for sale at the table. But the GID version last time was gone fast!

What a great thread this has turned out to be. The best threads at this site are like photographic museums ... I'll bet someone has said that before.
Best of all, now that it's April, everyone can post this month's favorite toy all over again! LOL ... for my part, I'll wait until the end of the month, but I suspect the new Y-MSF Godzillas on their way in the mail will be my favorites. We'll see.

It's the glow Yutari Garasharp as depicted in the 1972 planned but never released film "Gamera vs. Garasharp". More info can be found here: http://www.shrineofgamera.com/garasharp.html Oh crap, I never knew about that! I thought it was just a made up kaiju. Just saw the link! Thanks! That is a very cool toy - I always thought Garasharp was a cool looking kaiju and wish that movie had gotten made. Nice pickup on the toy - I've got that green glowie plus the new black one from WonderFest. Quote: As for the toy, there are two others and he glows freaking bright! redhanded
Actually there are at least 3 others: Green, Blue Glow, and Black. I've also seen a pic of a non-glow one with green body and pink spotted underbelly, but I think it was a prototype and not actually released.
Hey I just found that pic ... here it is!

What's the Heater Story? I've pics of him, and then the trading cards, is a manga hero, or did he have a show?

Thanks, jl!
Yeah- the Tsubraya/Yamanaya Gara-sculpt rocks.
It’s my favorite of all the “soft” Garamon sculpts out there- it’s a great work of caricature: cute and appealing, but it doesn’t compromise on any of the essential elements of the character, or go too far afield into interpretive-land (not that there’s anything wrong with that, sometimes).
I would love to know who sculpted it….I bet Roger knows…or knows someone who knows…..
