Post toys you love
in the same vein as the toys you hate thread i just posted - explain here why a certain toy or set of toys does it for you.

the kaiju toys are quite a bit different than the normal vinyl collector's choice, so explain what it is about a toy that you have that you like so much

particularly one that a lot of people would look at and think "why would you spend money on THAT?"

Skull Toys - I enjoy the "evil" aspect of their toys, however cheesy it might be (but I love cheese). Their colorways, the scale of the toys, the poseability and the vibe they give are some of the reasons I was turned onto them. The mini Doku-Rocks also make a wonderful little companion to the 12" guys.

Exohead - I don't own any of them, sadly, but I have fallen in love with their colors, totally different sculpts, and subject matter. There's definitely something to be said about sexuality in Japanese sofubi toys.

Oh yea, and Gigan. I saw Godzilla vs. Gigan when I was probably about 6 or 7 years old and I had immediately found my favorite kaiju. Although I only have one lame Bandai 6" Gigan, I am thinking about starting to collect them.

There are several toys I used to dislike and have slowly grown to appreciate and/or love over time. But from the very beginning, I have always loved or felt drawn to (almost all of) the Hedorah/Hedoran sculpts. I'm not sure why. I never saw the movie until I was adult, so it's not a connection to the monster. I like the variety of different sculpts there are as well as the usually bright/crazy color schemes. I have actively resisted trying to collect too many Hedorah figures, because I'm afraid then I'll really get into them, which can easily lead to a bank-breaking habit.

I canwrite an insane amount about what I love about the toys I love (I have, sneak around the RxH threads) so here's a quicky about 1 newer figure I lvoe and why.

GID Pollard, why? Cause it's so milky good. And it glows. And I'm a sucker for gimmicks.

I love just about everything Secret Base. The only sculpt's that I don't go nuts over are the Bagman & the Obake Dog. Though I really like the original color Obake Dog. The original Blobpus sculpt is probably my favorite sculpt. I also really dig Skull Toys Doku-Rocks, Cronic Maverasu & Zyurai Asu, & some select Real Head. The original Fan Club Damage Brain & the Silver Kaws-Pushead Companion are probably my favorite 2 toys period.

toys that i think rule the roost:

obake dogs (a great homage to snoop and madball. i love em)

gargamel fight figs (my numero uno love, esp the OG gargadeath)

SGT D (is coming and youre on his list)

skullwings (second to the g'death)

sunguts camguts dude, gargamel thrashout man, charactics walder minis, mini skull toys, etc (i love the simplicity of these types of figs)

cigarette harm men (you smoke, you choke)

damage brains (i feel a strange connection since i had brain surgery and all)

lastly, marusan giant godzilla (15" of girth)

Hard to just pick one or two... so here's my top ten.
1. Nostalgic Heroes Tetsujin 28 Robots (the best the best the best)
2. Osamu Tezuka related vinyl (especially recent Dororo releases),
3. SkullToys' Skull King (what got me started collecting this stuff),
4. Anraku cos they are silly in a cool way (shame they are so rare. did you see a store exclusive last week on YJA go for 130,000 yen? crazy)
5. Real Head for their consistency in standard and creative use of colors.
6. Bwana x Gargamel family for it's unique style.
7. Gargamel for their variety (reminds me of a candy store).
8. Bemon for the sculpt.
9. Rainbow Barom 1 releases. (They make me laugh).
10. In general I am really in Clear colored or GID vinyl.

I pretty much love everything Gargamel puts out, colors are usually right on and the scuplts are nuts. My favorite hands down has got to be the Pinwheel figure. His closed fist and funny grin makes him look like some cocky smart ass.

I also recently fell in love with the Real Head stuff thanks to seeing Lash's work and actually getting a few of these guys.

My favorite of all is the Bullamrk sculpt of Baragon. I can not get enough of those guys...

The Frankenghost is genius! The way the head is sculpted, his shirt... I like the fact that it has a hint of Frankenstein, and is not just another interpretation of the monster.
I have no preference for a version (as of now).
Further I can say I like the Balzac designs and most Secret Base toys.

I have to go with the Frankenghost. I love the similarities to my fav monster, but just enough difference to make it new feeling. I also love the RXH Ichibanboshi. I have a thing for the skull image. Not an unhealthy thing, at least i hope not... :?

Any kaiju (not your new fangled kaiju) driving a vehicle...ie. UltraSeven/Man/Booska/Goji riding a trike, Goji/Hedorah in a tank, various Ultra Q/Man characters driving a car.

BxH Sukerukun...the best thing either SB or BxH ever released. You just can't hate on it.

I also love not being a toy prince anymore. How demasculinating...

This week, I heart R4-G9:

Image

Why?

- His eye lights up.
- You can rotate his head and his third leg will extend (ha ha, double entendres).
- The head clicks.
- He comes with a little hologram planet accessory.
- He has bling value.
- He can plug into Obi-Wan's cool ride.
- I voted for him.

I love the gashbawer, its the most underestimated toy in the moment,
although some colorways are really strange.

I felt in love with the Anraku stuff too.

Lemme see. I love the large Dream Rocket kaijus. The sculpt is unlike those of more traditional kaijus like the Bullmark and Marmit stuff. Having said that. I also love just about all monster type kaijus.

I'm also nuts about anything Japanese Superhero Robots. Although I lean towards the old school 60's and 70's stuff. Strictly vinyl tho. No tin or chogokin stuff.

Another Dream Rocket fan here, for the quality of the sculpts and paint. They appear to be on a real roll now. Their most recent releases have been superb. I love Girmos, Gappo, and Balbagon.
