shooters are cool too

!! Theres a ton of shooters on MAME, but play these Cave shooters and you'll never need to play anymore games:

DonPachi
DoDonPachi
Esp.Ra.De
Guwange

Try this link for little descriptions though. It was compiled by another forum I visit, to list games on MAME:

I didn't read this thread before posting, but ignore me and listen to kontact. Can't wait for my PC to get fixed so I can put some hours into DoDonPachi.

Awesome thread I've been meaning to build myself an arcade box and chuck a mame emulator in it for ages...

is Ninja Gaiden the same as Ninja Warriors? (two robo-ninja chicks, cut-em-up) maybe it was named differently here.

Space Harrier

Pang World

and another +1 for Altered Beast I loved that game!

That's awesome, I still got my TG16, what I'm after is a Virtual Boy though. I seem them from time to time, but never when I have the cash.

I had my son download Altered Beast for his Wii recently- of course, I’m entertained, but he thinks it’s ridiculously simplistic…however, it has made “WELCOME TO YOUR DOOM!” (shouted in a very nasal evil wizard voice) a new catchphrase at our house…..

Joust is my favorite video game ever.
Let the laughter begin.

BEST.GAME.EVER! I would play this game for hours when I was a kid. Crappy graphics but fun as hell to play (but that is what's most important).

They might be still available out there in webland somewhere...
Abortman, a hack of Pacman
Oh here>http://misfit.oldos.net/

And a hack of Galaxian.

Yeah those multiplayer Capcom quarter munchers were lots of fun. There was also that one where you could play as Captain Capcom or whatever or the baby in the mecha...

Wow some great games being mentioned in this thread. Ninja Warriors was indeed a different game. I think it was by Data East? Could check klov but I'm lazy. That was cool that you could take damage and your "ninja" would start looking all Terminator like.

Oh, and Dragon's Lair II Time Warp was far superior to the first (Beethoven's studio, Alice in Wonderland? hello!).

you're thinking of Captain Commando, that's the one where you can play as the baby, the ninja, the mummy, or the regular guy.

TONS of great games posted in here. I miss the classics. I started with an NES. My favorite systems of all time are the Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast. They both just had so many amazing games, first and third party.

I was always really into any fighters. 2D or 3D, I loved almost all of them.

Dudes, if you have an Xbox 360, be on the lookout for these games on Xbox Live Arcade sometime in the future:
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
and...

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix!!!
