 mantango movie
not nearly enough monster action in this one... just people arguing over food. i was hoping for some campy fun, but instead got a so-so survival movie with a little supernatural tossed in

I love that movie, the whole thing. I think all the interpersonal intrigue and tension is really well done ... volitile and kinda sexy. Love all the variations on the monsters too. The half-human one is scary!

From the afore-linked Wikipedia article:
"A theory among Gilligan's Island fans contends that each of the show's characters is intended to symbolize one of the Seven Deadly Sins."
These 'fans' must have imbalanced brain chemistry, self induced or otherwise. They probably play the theme song backwards to receive orders regarding 'the end'. We can only pray they are not watching 'Lost'.

Quote: In Japan at the same date, a Matango video game was released for the Nintendo DS with an extended story to increase the length of the game. The game proved to be very popular and a US release is speculated.
I'm gonna need this game. Even if I can't understand the language.

Great movie. Not campy fun, though.

I gotta say , this is hands down one of the best TOHO films ever ! And by todays standards it comes off very campy indeed. I think it even pulls off some pretty good creepy scenes for it's time. What was supposed to be scary back then and what makes films scary now, is really what makes this film seem campy to me. I've had this film in my collection for years, and when I show it to friends they bust a gut laughing. I think sometimes our expectations can get too high and we don't take things for what they are. Now where's the popcorn ?
