Micromasters don't count! Kidding- good memory. I remember Barricade, but I had to look up Blackout (half of that weird stealth bomber thing that may or may not have been released in the U.S.). Still, though, why go out of their way to create new, faceless characters when the original cartoon had a huge, recognizable cast.
I saw this movie last night. The first half was great but, the second half felt really rushed- I kind of lost track of the plot in the whole boom-boom-robot-fight thing. Overall, not a bad watch, but the ending left a bad taste in my mouth.
Still, I did get chills when I heard Peter Cullen speak as Optimus Prime. That pretty much was worth the price of the ticket.

I may go see it tonight. Im not that interested but my girlfriend is really into it. Frank, did you know that your toy(s) were going to be in the movie? Did KR tell you or anything? I would imagine it would be very cool / weird to see something you designed in the background of a movie scene.

Yeah the Labbit shot, an Attaboy shot, and Fiendish Club poster shot...
BTW what was the trailer of the movie with no name? The one where it sounds like Godzilla....where the Statue of Liberty gets beheaded?

Nope,
Another horrible michael bay film with the transformers just dropped into it.
I wish I could get those hours of my life back.

I think this movie gives enough to the true fans of transformers for them to be happy![/quote]

I liked the movie overall. I'm not a big Michael Bay fan, but I thought he did alright with this one. Got chills when I saw Opty transform for the first time.

I would rather see this movie 5 times than have to see movies like Crash again.
Rating on IMDB. http://imdb.com/title/tt0418279/ It's rare to get over 8/10 on this site.
I like how Michael Bay started out as a Playboy director.

I've noticed you're a hard man to please, so I don't mind if my statement misses the mark with you I was sitting with enough fans of Transformers in the cinema to know they were just pleased to see a Transformers movie in the bigscreen

To each his own.
I saw it with 5 friends, only one "liked" it.
The theater seemed filmed with kids who had no idea what transformers was actually about. The movie just seemed like an action plot film/some teen romance with the transformers haphazardly dropped in.. way too much live action bs and not enough transformers.. or understanding why/what they were doing.
A thought to ponder: If the transformers could choose what they wanted to transform into, and choose/update again after the initial choice, why were parts of the car visible when they transformed?

I loved this movie ! I think that people expect too much from films these days. It just came across as pure escapist fun to me, nothing more and nothing less. I think with any kind of science fiction movie you should let go and maybe not pick things apart so much! It's only entertainment afterall !

i liked it.
My boyfriend is a huge transformers fan, and he liked it as well, although at times it was a bit much. The cheese was a little thick at times, and some of the action sequences were a little too blurry.
Also our one complaint was that Starscream and Megatron were both too similar in appearance. Obviously Megatron can't be a gun hopping around, but some difference in appearance would have been cool.

I agree, but I rarely see 'normal' movies and bad acting and worse dialogue seem the normal and I was shocked to see people actually laughing at some of the lines. That wasn't as bad as the annoying JarJar like 'comic' crap of the little Decepticon...that was just bad.
I was never a big transformers fan but I wanted to see the movie for the crazy special effects. It was worth it, I liked it.
It is what it is...
