The shape reminds me of the purple Ghostbusters toy that had three eyes, and the biggest in the middle shot out when you squeezed it. i'd look for a pic but I'm at work and don't wanna take the time.

Yep.

Draw original on paper and ink/color in Photoshop. I still can't pull off sketches on screen. Gotta have old-fashioined paper.

damn you're fast. it takes me a damn month to do one drawing

i think this could look cool as a figure

maybe you could have the skeleton of him to go along with it... might be cool to see the empty eye sockets and the bony spurs/armor plates along with his ribs or whatever

or just have the skeleton with goop you can add on this put it in a vat of some liquid to dissolve away like those old mad scientist playsets from the 80s!!

OK with the profile I'd loose the wings and def add two sets of Jabba like arms. One set below the horns about the size of the horns and the second lower set slightly smaller.

Now that I think about it, it would make more sense if the eyeguy only had ONE eye. At first glance, it would look like an eyeball, but when you examine it closely... BAM!

I like it!

I'd have to consult someone far more experienced in what is possible with rotocast, but once the sculpting mechanics of such a thing are hammered out, I don't see why not.

Ignorance truly is bliss. :D

Well, I'd hope so. It'd add a whole dif. level to this thing. You can do all sorts of weird combos with colors and glows and clears.

I would like to see the face a little more monster-scary. It's kind of monster-cartoony right now. open eyball especially. but I guess in a sculpt it will look pretty good.

as to appendages, give him two little useless jointed flippers near the end of the tail. it would look as if he moved like a slug and used the flippers to help him climb up things/push himself along the bottom of the swamp.

that's my vision for your idea. i saw a twintail resemblance too. i dig ultraman monsters, but have never watched any episodes.

DISCLAIMER 1: You said to be brutal...

Not really sure what you're going for. The monster is blobby but what kind of blobby feel are you going for? Someone mentioned Meatwad and a simple change in color can give a different feel, but he still has that "meatwad" texture. Think about what kind of blob is your character made of.
Is there a story behind the monster?
The armor plates look fine for that pagoda feel, but you need to blend in more of the monster's color to make it look like the plates aren't just stuck on him. The horns need a little work. The portion where the horn meets the head...there needs to be something there so they don't look like the horns are just stuck on...like a last minute idea. Look at the way tusks come out of elephants, or some other animal with antlers. Wings, arms, horns, they're all appendages of some sort so you need to think about how they attach to the body.
I was talking to Brian at S7 one day and said "A toy for the sake of being a toy is fine...but a toy with a story behind it is awesome." When I used to sit around with mangakaben and we would draw during our breaks, we always had a story for the figures we would draw. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing if there is no story behind the character. I'm saying that a character with a story behind it is so much richer, and your ideas will flow better.

I'm actually making a character and will show it to Hiro (cause he asked to see it) this weekend, so I kinda know what you're going through.

DISCLAIMER 2: If my words seem a little mean, you did say to be brutal....

No need to tippy-toe. i want to make this thing the best that I possibly can. Every comment either pro or con brings me one step closer to my goal.

What am I shooting for? I wanted to combine ultra kaiju elements with the "not quite right" look of some of the kaiju from the sentai shows -- those great wacked-out monsters that don't really make all that much sense when you really think about them, but look really cool, nonetheless. For example, what good would tiny wings do for this guy? Not all that much, but wings always look good. Sculpt a dick, and you have just another dildo. Slap some wings on it, and you have a DICK with WINGS! SeewhatImean? Gold, Jerry.

How would a mass of lumpy crud fight, anyway? I see his attack as a headlong smash with his armor plates. With no visible means of locomotion (he's not fast, that's for sure), he'd better be both strong and direct. The horns are there for both design appeal and practicality, much like those on a bull. The armor spine protects his back and rear.

The symbiote eye thing (props to BloodDrinker) adds another conceptual layer. Maybe the host lacks the intelligence to make his own decisions and the little guy calls the shots. Kind of like a pilot, but organically wired into the big guy's brain.

You weren't the slightest bit mean. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

To tell you the truth, I'm really surprised at how nice everyone has been so far. I expected to be eviscerated.

But that would have been okay, too. Would have made me try even harder.
