San Francisco airport is NOT in San Francisco... it's actually in Millbrae/San Bruno, and a fair distance away from the actual city. They have mass transit connected, so you can take BART to downtown SF.

The closest hotel is the Miyako, which is literally across the street from S7 and it also connects to the Japantown Mall. Brian mentioned another one in the area, but I forgot what the name of it was.

I have no idea what rates at the Miyako are like, but if they're too high and you choose to board elsewhere, one thing to know is that S7 is at a pretty "central" location as regards public transportation. All cabbies will know where Japan Center / J-Town is as well.

Dude, ya gotta let us know when you're going to be in town!

Confess. You know you want this room. :D

I've stayed at the Miyako and really enjoyed it, as well as exploring the whole area around the hotel. Definitely recommended.

There's a Holiday Inn (on Van Ness between California and Bush) that's kinda close by. It's probably about 7 blocks to S7. Lots of places to eat around it, and a few bars near by as well. The weekend night crowd is interesting and you can get just about anything you want...well...just about. Indian food, mexican food, burgers, pizza, bars, a gallery, hookers (pre or post op), fire trucks...oh yeah...there's also a Whole Foods near by. :)

One thing you might want to think about is a car. If you stay at a hotel near Super 7, you won't really need one because you can take public transportation from the airport into SF and, whether it's the Miyako or the Holiday Inn, there's a bus that will take you less than a block away from the front door of that hotel. The bad part....it's public transportation, and if you have a lot of bags with you, it will be a pain because these are main bus lines that you'll be on (it is a real pain, I've done it with a full bag of hockey equipment). If you decide on public transportation, feel free to ask me. I've taken it for many years.

That hotel is pretty cool. Rooms painted by different artists. Love em or hate em, it's a cool thing.

Mitchell Brothers, New Century.....oh yeah...and White Walls is also near by. I think I'd rather walk on a crunchy floor than a sticky one...

+1

But the free wi-fi is weak. Had to do all my email/surfing in the lobby.

Plus public trans is awesome in SF if I'm not mistaken. When I went like 4 or 5 years ago it was great at least.
